- An Alternative Look At Mankind's History【電子書籍】[ Jonathan Hoffman ]

Have we been here before and if so what happened to us? This book looks at the evidence that mankind’s history is not quite what we have been led to believe. Our ancestors knew they weren’t here first; it’s time we listened to what they told us. With facts and scientific data you’ll see for yourselves that not only did multiple civilizations exist much earlier than is commonly known but also that our ancestors were globally connected thousands of years earlier than we have been led to believe. We’ll look at multiple theories of events that may have affected our path towards civilization. Some of the individual events may be familiar to some of you but what makes the evidence more compelling is that you will see how these events linked to each other on a global scale. We'll also look at what happened to those people and why those civilizations just seemed to have disappeared. Come take a fresh look at our earliest civilizations from a much wider perspective and see our real history.

This third book in the “A Look at the Future” series, titled “Look Around: God’s New World Order” is about life in the Millennium, the one-thousand-year reign of Christ on Earth, and also our eternal home in Heaven.

Now, as we close this period of human history, we need to know what God has planned for the near and distant future. If you believe that Jesus died for your sins and reconciled you with Jehovah God, then you should look for the Rapture of the Church and Jesus’ glorious return to take us to be with Him.

“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” John 14:1-3.

If you don’t believe this, then it’s time to prepare for the terrible time ahead for those who dwell on the Earth. The seven years of God’s judgment is about to fall. So now you need to either ‘Look Up’ for Jesus’ return or ‘Look Out’ for Satan’s rule.

Believer, ‘Look Around’ at God’s future home for us on Earth and in the Eternal Heaven.

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Instituted by God A Christian Look at Civil Government, Politics, and Voting【電子書籍】[ Adam Murrell ]

How would Jesus vote? That's the one question people ask repeatedly, and folks on both sides of the political aisle think they know the answer. Into this overwhelmingly complex political question, Adam Murrell brings a concise, compelling, and nonpartisan exploration of what God's Word has to say on a myriad of issues ranging from the role of civil government and single-issue voting to the ethics of voting and a woman's role in politics. Instituted by God isn't intended to tell you which candidate to support; rather it offers you a wholly biblically centered way of looking at candidates to help you draw your own political conclusions. This election season, don't cast an uninformed vote that fails to reflect your Christian values. Instead, learn how to apply the teachings of the Bible, your faith, and your obedience to God to your ballot. This timely, helpful, and daring book will enable you to do just that.

The world seems to have recently discovered India and China as major players in Asia, and political and economic connections between the two countries are rapidly growing. Beyond the fashionable phenomenon, the two countries have much in common and many shared experiences. Both are developing countries with dynamic economies focused on lifting their people out of poverty. There are also differences as well, as India is a democracy while China is an autocratic state, and the speed of economic growth is much higher in India. This collection provides a comparative analysis of development-induced migration in India and China caused by urbanization and dam construction. The contributors include scholars from both countries working in both academia and consultancy positions.

A Walking Tour of Deadwood, South Dakota【電子書籍】[ Doug Gelbert ]

There is no better way to see America than on foot. And there is no better way to appreciate what you are looking at than with a walking tour. Whether you are preparing for a road trip or just out to look at your own town in a new way, a downloadable walking tour is ready to explore when you are.

Each walking tour describes historical and architectural landmarks and provides pictures to help out when those pesky street addresses are missing. Every tour also includes a quick primer on identifying architectural styles seen on American streets.

Tradition holds that Virginia City, one of the oldest established communities in Nevada, took its name from James Finney who was known as "Old Virginy." Finney wasn't even his name - he supposedly changed it from Fennimore after killing a man in his home state of Virginia. Virginia City sprang up virtually overnight after the discovery of the Comstock Lode, the first major silver strike in the United States, was revealed in 1859.

An expedition led by Lt. Colonel George Armstrong Custer in 1874 confirmed rumors of gold on the Sioux Reservation. Prospectors - and those looking to mine the pockets of the miners - descended on the Black Hills, although it was illegal to trespass on Indian lands. No one knows for sure who first found gold sparkling in his prospector's pan in Whitewood Creek in Deadwood Gulch but Frank Bryant is generally given credit in August 1875. A sprawling community spread down the narrow gulch almost instantly. In fact Deadwood, named for the many fallen trees in the gulch, grew to its approximate current size within a few years of its founding.

The raucous mining town gained a national reputation for lawlessness, a badge of dishonor that hung around after it had morphed into a prosperous Victorian town. The rugged topography allowed for little new growth and as other towns developed into ranching centers or mining towns Deadwood became an urban oasis wrapped in a service economy. Some of those services smacked of the town's upbringing - the last of Deadwood's brothels did not shut down until 1980.

Deadwood has been plagued by floods and fires through its history. The worst conflagration broke out in a bakery on Sherman Street in the early morning hours of September 26, 1879. The fire spread quickly to Jensen and Bliss's Hardware where it ignited eight kegs of gunpowder. The subsequent explosion caused the fire to sweep quickly through the town, destroying three hundred buildings and leaving two thousand homeless. All of the town's founding buildings were obliterated. The streetscape of Deadwood today is studded with Victorian-style buildings raised in the ashes of that historic blaze, constructed with stone and brick and not vulnerable wood.

In 1961 the entire town was designated a National Historic Landmark and indeed it seemed as if Deadwood was slipping into an era of somnambulism. Interstate 90 bypassed it and there were more fires. In 1989 gambling was legalized in Deadwood, the first small community to turn to gaming revenues to maintain local historic qualities and the town became rejuvenated as a tourist destination. Our walking tour will work back and forth through the narrow gulch and we will begin not 100 yards from the spot where some miner filled that first prospecting pan with gold...

They were known as the Four Georgians even though they weren't all from Georgia and there may have been seven and not four. The prospecting party had been working Montana Territory near Virginia City most of 1864 before trying the Little Blackfoot Creek and then crossed the Continental Divide to begin the summer in Prickly Pear Valley, which had gotten its name during Lewis & Clark's Corps of Discovery when Captain William Clark had to delay a scouting party to yank cactus spines out of his feet here.

After six weeks the prospectors had little to show for their efforts when they tried a spot they had dramatically named Last Chance Gulch because it was going to be just that for their time in the valley. On July 14, 1864 the Georgians found a gold nugget in the gulch - the first of $200 million (some $4 billion in today's money) in gold that would be pulled from one of America's most famous placer deposits. The Four Georgians were gold chasers, not builders, and they didn't stick around to nurse a proper town into being from the busting gold camp that sprung up in the Prickly Pear Valley. Local lore insists they needed an extra heavy wagon to haul away all their gold dust after selling their claims in 1867.

The streets of the town were laid out by Captain John Wood in 1865 and he didn't need a straight edge for his drawings - Main Street ran up the winding gulch and side streets had to negotiate around the various claims of the miners. When it came to naming the town suggestions like Crabtown (after one of the Georgians, who was from Iowa), Pumpkintown and Squashtown (it was autumn during the naming meeting) and Last Chance (historic but depressing) were rejected in favor of Helena, after the hometown of one of the committee members back in Minnesota.

Most of the gold was scraped from the surface within a few years but the territorial capitol came to Helena in 1875 and the Northern Pacific Railroad pulled into town in 1883 which insured the boomtown would not turn into a ghost town. In fact by 1888, Helena was home to fifty millionaires and boasted it was the richest town per capita on the planet. The riches were on display along Helena's streets as its culture and architecture earned the town the sobriquet "the Queen City of the Rockies."

But the boom times never came back after the gold played out - the town's population didn't reach its 1888 levels again for fifty years. When Montana became a state Helena had to survive two elections to maintain its position as capital, first in 1892 in a run-off with every aspiring capital town in the state and again in 1894 to beat back a one-on-one challenge from sore loser Anaconda and its leading cheerleader Copper King Marcus Daly.

The town was rocked by an unusually persistent series of earthquakes in 1935 that caused millions of dollars in damage, but not so much that was lasting. It was a different story in the 1970s, however, when Helena became an enthusiastic player in urban renewal. The carnage included 228 buildings and about 150 businesses. About that time Main Street, which had been switched to Last Chance Gulch Street in 1953, was closed to vehicular traffic, emulating a mania across America for pedestrian malls. Most of the malls have been re-opened to auto traffic but Helena's remains and that is where we will begin our walking our after a short detour to visit ...

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】When You Give A New Testament Look at Generosity for the Christian Family【電子書籍】[ Tim Howington ]

If you are just looking for the highlights of our study, here you go! Generosity in its simplest form is giving. Giving of your time, talent and treasure towards something or someone you value. Kingdom Generosity is a big, big deal. What is at stake here? The financial integrity of the greatest endeavor that man has ever participated in… the expansion of the Kingdom of God! When Jesus came, He preached and said, “Repent, for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 4:17). As He ascended back to heaven, He gave His disciples a mandate to spread the gospel to the ends of the earth and to make disciples of all the nations (Matthew 28:18-20). We call that mandate the Great Commission. The Christian family has a responsibility to fulfill this mandate in our generation. This will take time, talent, and treasure. Two of the biggest challenges to the Great Commission are 1) Christians willing to spread His Word 2) Christians willing to give to His work. In this book, we are writing about how to fund the mission. It is time to transition our thinking from the organizations financed to the primary funder- the Christian family. The financial health and vision of the Christian family is critical for reaching the world for Christ in this generation and in your children’s generation and your grandchildren’s generation, too.

India’s Look East policy opened up a new strategic dimension to Indian foreign policy. India had significant cultural and diplomatic linkages with the Southeast Asian nations. But India’s non-aligned diplomatic position created a distance between India and Southeast Asia. The adoption of the Look East Policy led to the establishment of economic and strategic ties with Southeast Asia. The policy was revised in the form of the Act East Policy in 2015 in the face of China’s increasing influence in South and Southeast Asia which posed a threat to India’s security. Moreover the Sino-Pakistan liaison necessitated the strengthening of India-Southeast Asia relations.

This book is an attempt to trace the development of the Look East Policy, its transition into Act East Policy and its aftermath. These changing parameters will show the decisive impacts on the transformative phases of India’s foreign policy.

In the spring of 1969, 101 students received master’s degrees from Columbia University’s prestigious School of Journalism, where they had learned the trade as it was then practiced. Most hoped to start a career in newspapers, radio, television or magazines, the established forms of journalism of that era. Little did they realize how the news world they were entering would be upended by the internet and by the social forces that would sweep through the country over the next 50 years.

This book tells the story of the news media revolution through the eyes of those in the Class of 1969 who lived it and helped make it happen. It is an insider’s look at the reshaping of the Fourth Estate and the information Americans now get and don’t getーcrucial aspects of the vibrancy of democracy.

God wants us to know that above all else, He loves and adores us. When the knowledge of God fuels the love for God, we are more equipped to serve and honor Him with our lives.

As our understanding of God increases and what He wants us to know is revealed to us through the Holy Spirit, the majesty of His infinite excellence and love shines. This understanding helps us to adore and appreciate His essence and the greatness of the gifts He has given to us. In 2 Corinthians 4:6, Paul wrote: “For God, who said: ‘Let the light shine out of darkness!’” And this is the same God who made His light shine in our hearts to let us know that His own divine greatness (glory) is seen in the face of Christ! What God Wants You to Know is a journey through both testaments that will open your eyes to an understanding of just who God is and demonstrates His foreshadowing of the nature of Christ throughout the Old Testament and His presentation of Christ and His plan for salvation throughout the New Testament. What God Wants You to Know will ignite a thirst to understand the Heavenly Father in a new way and set readers on a path to understand who He calls them to be.

Time seems to flash by when we are enjoying ourselves, and slows to a crawl when we are bored. Why? Does time exist, or is it an illusion? Does it flow? Is it linear? How real are our memories? When is now? These are just some of the questions that Time To Tell asks in its foray into what time is for us, what it does to us and for us, and how we live and react to it in our daily lives. Digging down to the roots of our lived experience in the world, Time To Tell takes us through a journey replete with twists and turns and “aha!” moments. Challenging the obvious, the book asks us to look anew at our perspective of what we naturally take for granted. Rattling the comfort of instant satisfaction, of reality shows, celebrity worship and the self-glorification of the I-generation, Ronald Green, with panache and authority, takes us on a journey that allows us a new way of looking at ourselves in the world, and to act upon what we discover.

This is the journey of going in the inner soul to discover the balance of divinity and seeing how all the forces that are variable to the source in the sense of all performing oneness. The nature of divinity is centering yourself into the content that holds your light with all your senses and is due to the subject of the physical body, which can feel every molecule and the sensitive vibration from the interdimensional realms, consuming the mind in a trance. The revolution of physical living was set to the soul to conquer the physical, which is tangible to the humans. The passion began when humans started to recognize the beauty of their body and see the reality of cohabiting and coexisting. This led to the nature of humans to evolve in the sense of being aware of their opposites. They laid their skin on the mind and had found that they were the last species that God had concluded. Evaluation was getting radical when the people were compared to the species that are in the jungle. In the nature of that source, people were set in the culture of animals and that they should be living according the system of survival of the fittest, thus projecting the notion that you had to identify yourself with the community in terms of color and structure. The history of the past community who were forced to conform to the characteristics of culture, religion, and politics had found themselves in the confusion of what it was meant to live in love or live for life.

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】On the Origin of Autonomy A New Look at the Major Transitions in Evolution【電子書籍】[ Bernd Rosslenbroich ]

This volume describes features of autonomy and integrates them into the recent discussion of factors in evolution. In recent years ideas about major transitions in evolution are undergoing a revolutionary change. They include questions about the origin of evolutionary innovation, their genetic and epigenetic background, the role of the phenotype and of changes in ontogenetic pathways. In the present book, it is argued that it is likewise necessary to question the properties of these innovations and what was qualitatively generated during the macroevolutionary transitions.

The author states that a recurring central aspect of macroevolutionary innovations is an increase in individual organismal autonomy whereby it is emancipated from the environment with changes in its capacity for flexibility, self-regulation and self-control of behavior.

The first chapters define the concept of autonomy and examine its history and its epistemological context. Later chapters demonstrate how changes in autonomy took place during the major evolutionary transitions and investigate the generation of organs and physiological systems. They synthesize material from various disciplines including zoology, comparative physiology, morphology, molecular biology, neurobiology and ethology. It is argued that the concept is also relevant for understanding the relation of the biological evolution of man to his cultural abilities.

Finally the relation of autonomy to adaptation, niche construction, phenotypic plasticity and other factors and patterns in evolution is discussed. The text has a clear perspective from the context of systems biology, arguing that the generation of biological autonomy must be interpreted within an integrative systems approach.

A Walking Tour of Fort Wayne, Indiana【電子書籍】[ Doug Gelbert ]

There is no better way to see America than on foot. And there is no better way to appreciate what you are looking at than with a walking tour. Whether you are preparing for a road trip or just out to look at your own town in a new way, a downloadable walking tour is ready to explore when you are.

Each walking tour describes historical and architectural landmarks and provides pictures to help out when those pesky street addresses are missing. Every tour also includes a quick primer on identifying architectural styles seen on American streets.

Anthony Wayne was one of George Washington’s ablest lieutenants during the Revolutionary War, distinguishing himself on the field at Germantown, Monmouth, Stony Point and elsewhere. At Valley Forge, Wayne took on the dangerous mission of foraging for cattle and supplies in British-held New Jersey and eventually drove some 150 head of beef cattle across the Delaware River to fortify the starving troops in what was dubbed “The Great Cow Chase.” By the end of the war Anthony Wayne was a major general.

He entered politics in the new republic but President Washington called Wayne out of civilian life in order to lead an expedition in the Northwest Indian War, which up to that point had been a disaster. Any more embarrassing defeats in the West might embolden the British to move against the new America and reclaim its lost lands. After negotiations with Chief Little Turtle, war chief of the Miami Indians, failed Anthony’s army attacked at Fallen Timbers, south of Toledo, on August 20, 1794. In an hour the Americans had routed the Miamis. The Americans moved south and constructed a fort where the St. Joseph River and the St. Marys River join to form the Maumee River and on October 22, 1794 named the position Fort Wayne.

Wayne was in charge of operations in the Northwest and negotiated the Treaty of Greenville that gave most of modern-day Ohio to the United States. In 1796, after an inspection tour of frontier posts the general died of complications from gout when he was only 51 years old. A score of villages, towns and cities would be named for Anthony Wayne, more than a dozen counties, a river, a national forest and even Batman’s stately Wayne Manor.

Fort Wayne rose to prominence with the completion of the Wabash & Erie Canal, at 460 miles the longest canal ever dug in the United States. Here, the canal crossed 5 miles to the Little Wabash River and headed downstream through Indiana. Since this was the highest point on the canal, Fort Wayne became known as the “Summit City.” The canal began operation in 1843 but it was obsolete almost before its completion. While it did not bring great wealth to Fort Wayne it did establish the town as an important center of trade that attracted the railroads. In the first decade of railroad building in the 1850s the population hopped from 4,282 to 10,388.

With the railroads came industry and the town’s population jumped by about 35% every decade for seventy years. Railroad car wheels, washing machines, mining machinery, lumber products and copper wire all poured out of Fort Wayne. In 1891 the Wayne Knitting Mills opened to produce the first full-fashined hosiery in the United States. Sylvanus F. Bowser manufactured self-measuring oil tanks here and the city cranked out most of America’s filling station equipment. General Electric, Magnavox, Westinghouse and International Harvester were all iconic employers in Fort Wayne.

Fort Wayne was a prototypical Rust Belt manufacturing city. But the city’s economy diversified with the times and never experienced a crushing decline like its northern neighbors. Save for a small blip in the 1970s the population has never stopped expanding. As a result the Fort Wayne streetscape has seen a steady turnover of buildings that has stripped the town of many of its heritage downtown structures but our walking tour will begin in the shadow of two of its most glorious survivors...

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】1 Corinthians A Devotional Look at Paul's First Letter to the Corinthians【電子書籍】[ F. Wayne Mac Leod ]

This is a commentary on the first letter of the apostle Paul to the Corinthians. The city of Corinth, in Paul's day was a wealthy city. The church was a mixture of Jewish and Gentile converts who had been influenced by the wealth and immorality of the Corinthian culture of the day. These new believers struggled to overcome their past and this had become quite obvious in their church life.

Paul wrote this letter to challenge the Corinthians to deal with a number of issues that had arisen in the church because of their immaturity in Christ. Here in this letter he challenges them to order, love and humility. The book is a challenge to the culture of our day as well as we too deal with many of the same issues.

Each chapter is concluded with a series of questions to consider and some points for prayer to help the reader apply the truth to his or her personal life.

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Learning to Look Dispatches from the Art World【電子書籍】[ Alva No? ]

Learning to Look is a wandering journey through the nature of art - and the ways it can transform us, if we let it. Author of Infinite Baseball, Alva No?, presents a collection of short, stimulating essays that explore how we experience art and what it means to be an "observer." Experiencing art - letting it do its work on us - takes thought, attention, and focus. It requires creation, even from the beholder. And it is in this process of confrontation and reorganization that artworks can lead us to remake ourselves. Ranging far and wide, from Pina Bausch to Robocop, from Bob Dylan to Vermeer, No? uses encounters with specific artworks to gain entry into a world of fascinating issues - like how philosophy and science are represented in film; what evolutionary biology says about art; or the role of relics, fakes, and copies in our experience of a work. The essays in Learning to Look are short, accessible, and personal. Each one arises out of an art encounter - in a museum, listening to records, or going to a concert. Each essay stands on its own, but taken together, they form an intimate picture of our relationship with art. Carefully articulating the experience of each of these encounters, No? proposes that, like philosophy, art is a sort of technology for understanding ourselves. Put simply, art is an opportunity for us to enact ourselves anew.
