Der allgemeine Wert des Gesamtwerkes ist vielleicht noch viel mehr ein historischer als ein technischer. Der Verfasser ist zwar von Hause aus Techniker und weist in seiner Einleitung mit Bescheidenheit darauf hin, dass man von ihm nicht das erwarten d?rfe, was der Geschichtsforscher leiste, er zeigt aber bald darauf durch eine treffliche Bemerkung, dass ihm zum Historiker nichts fehlt, als vielleicht die akademische Qualifikation, und dass viele M?nner vom Fach von ihm noch lernen k?nnen.
