A Collection of Essays, Conversations, and Conte Family Recipes【電子書籍】[ Yvonne F. Conte ]

Want to get back to a day when life was easy, children did as they were told and your grandmother cooked on Sunday? It all begins with you. Laughter, Humor and Joy expert Yvonne Conte shows you how in this very different book about Life, Love and Italian Cooking. Includes over 45 authentic Italian recipes from three generations of Conte's. Introduction The Conte Family trace our origin to Amaroni, a small town in the Province of Catanzaro, in southern Italy, in the Region of Calabria. My great Grandparents, Francesco and Francesca (DiVito) Conte had three sons and two daughters. Their eldest son was my grandfather, Antonio Conte. We called him Pa. He came to this country as a young boy and hoped for a good life in the new world. He married Philomena Marrotta and had four children. The eldest was my father, Frances William Conte. My Dad came from a strong, dedicated and loyal family. He knew the power of that kind of family strength and he passed that knowledge down to my sisters and I. Somehow that made me feel very safe and protected as a child growing up in the 50's and 60's. I always knew my family had my back, no matter what. They would always be there for me. I could count on that. If ever there was a disagreement with one of us kids, he would look at us and say, "That's your sister. You're family. I don't want to hear anymore. Kiss and make up." And we always did. My father would not tolerate any sort of discord. We cried a little bit, we laughed a little bit and then Daddy would get us in the kitchen and we'd cook! Somehow a wonderful meal and sitting around the table together made everything alright. He taught me that nothing is as important as the family. He has been gone now since 1995 and much has changed. Our families have gotten bigger and some of our traditions have gone by the wayside. I think that happens in most families as time goes on. I wrote this book because I want my grandchildren to know that same kind of family strength and loyalty that I grew up with. I think it's time for Americans to go back to their roots and back to the values, respect and beliefs that this country was founded on. In the first section you will find a collection of essays. Some essays are funny, some are emotional and some are just my random thoughts. I've tried to be descriptive so that you can almost hear the laughter from my many Conte, Gerace, Scarano and Paone cousins, smell the aromas and envision us around the table. The second section offers the same kind of values, respect and beliefs in conversations with Gary Dunes, a long time fixture in the Central New York radio market. The third section is my real gift to you. I'm giving away all the family secrets! Forty-five recipes from three generations of Conte's fill the pages. I'm telling you, you can almost smell the sauce. I hope you enjoy this book. Of everything I've ever written, this book offers more of me - my heart and soul, my thoughts and dreams, and the food that made me who I am. Mmmm, molto bene! Enjoy. Yvonne "My task which I am trying to achieve by the power of the written word, to make you hear, to make you feel - it is, before all, to make you see. That and no more, and it is everything." - Joseph Conrad

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Kissed the Girls and Made Them Cry Why Women Lose When They Give In【電子書籍】[ Lisa Bevere ]

How far can I go? It's the question of a generation wanting straight answers. Often the very questions we ask reveal our hearts better than anything else. In Kissed the Girls and Made Them Cry, Lisa Bevere tackles these tough issues by moving us from rules to relationship. There is no question we need a renewal of purity, but what we're doing is not working.

How far can you go? Ask yourself: What do you ultimately want? Immediate and temporary gratification that wanes with the passage of time? Or passion and exclusive intimacy that endures and intensifies?

God wants to move us beyond the restraint of the law (which arouses sin) and plant us into a garden of longing -- where our sexuality and passion is carefully guarded and cultivated until the time for its awakening. This is a book for every daughter in waiting and every woman who has never known desire in her life and marriage.

WE HEAR THE BABIES CRY【電子書籍】[ Marcella Lamsell ]

We hear the Babies Cry is dedicated to the 60 million young Americans who were cruelly bruised and dismembered to death. First came the chemical burning to death. Next came partial birth abortion via the scissors to the back of the neck. Now RU-486 is our present day chemical annihilation. And now we have babies being parted to sell their organs. This is akin to the deplorable killing of adults to sell their organs.

No one wants to write a book about abortion. We also prefer not to think about it. It happens to others.
Every day thousands die at the hands of the hired ones. We pay the fee. The extraction is completed. The former mother is alone. No compassionate hug. No kiss. No future. Another child is dead. But who is counting.

Where is the American conscience? Is there no limit to our barbaric acts? Is it not time to tell the young mother to carry the child until birth. Then the happy child can be given to a welcoming family. The baby is happy. The new family is happy. And the mother can feel like she has assisted others in their fulfillment of their dreams.

The Husband's Guide to Keeping His Wife and Kids【電子書籍】[ E.D. Armstrong ]

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】The Husband's Guide to Keeping His Wife and Kids【電子書籍】[ E.D. Armstrong ]

It was an ordinary day when I received an unexpected early morning phone call from a friend that I hadn’t heard from in a few months. He was his normal lively self, but when he asked me to meet him for lunch, under the banner of an important announcement he had to discuss, I quickly woke up from being drowsy, and was quite intrigued by this “surprise” announcement!
I remember thinking at first that his announcement had to do with the fact that he had won the lottery, since he had always mentioned exactly how he would go about letting our group of friends know, (there are four of us, and we have been friends since elementary and junior high). This phone call and lunch meeting had all the makings of that exact scenario. You can imagine our surprise when during the lunch meeting he announced that he, and his wife of over a dozen years were not only getting a divorce, but had in fact been separated for the better part of a year! Trying to defuse the tension of the moment, I responded by lamenting my expected percentage of his lottery winnings.
That night, as well as the next several weeks, we spent time hanging out with our friend who was definitely going through a rather difficult time in his life. What I didn’t realize, was that I was about to embark on a transition of sorts in my own life. During that lunch meeting, we laughed a lot, cried a little, and compared notes about each of our individual relationships. I quickly discovered, as I listened to the different issues that we all had endured in our respective marriages, that I found myself doing less and less complaining. One of my friends asked... what was the matter? I quickly responded by saying that as soon as I got home I was going to give my wife a kiss, and a hug! I didn’t have nearly any of the issues going on that I was finding out about.
While I always believed I had a strong marriage, I also believe that you sometimes grow to appreciate your spouse a bit more if you are exposed to a negative alternative. While the clich? is, “you never truly miss a thing until it’s gone,” I feel that we do get constant examples of how we should appreciate what we have. It is merely a matter of whether we are paying attention to the examples set before us. When I got home I gave my wife that promised kiss and hug; I explained to her that I had an epiphany that night. I told her that I was going to write a guide for husbands, and others, as a way of creating dialogue that would help discuss a few relevant details of relationships from a man’s perspective, as well as address a few misconceptions in general. ‘The Husband’s Guide to Keeping His Wife and Kids’ is a collection of topics, and situations that I feel have great impact on who we become and how we develop our concepts of relationships.
What started out as a simple way for me to process the pain I was feeling for my friend as his marriage came to an end, quickly turned into an effort to discuss a number of reasons why men and women lose sight of each other in our relationships. This is a non-pretentious attempt to talk about the factors that shape our views on relationships, as well as the way we break those negative trends. I hope that we all can laugh, cry, and share our own stories as we discuss this emotional roller coaster that is found in both life, and marriage. In the end I pray that we come to the conclusion that a “perfect” marriage or relationship is nothing more than an illusion. Instead there are just people who have vowed to be committed to their relationship, and together have learned and adapted to make it work.

One Transgression She Was Hurting. He Was Married.【電子書籍】[ K. D. Anderson ]

He Was Married.【電子書籍】[ K. D. Anderson ]

Okay I confess. I did it. I brought shame on all women kind. But I couldn’t help myself. I had to know what was going on. I needed to know the truth. So after calling the numbers off the list I "accidentally" found in his wallet, had any one of you been concerned enough to admit the truth, maybe I wouldn’t have wasted so many years of my life. Maybe I would have found the courage to leave. In fact, maybe some of you remember me. I called your home, work or cell; whichever number fell out of his pants pocket. And when you answered, I was always very polite in my approach. So, I’m guessing it caught you off guard when I came right out and asked, “Do you know my man?” I mean seriously, would it have been so hard to confess the truth? “Yes I’m sleeping with your man?” But instead, I, Stefanie Mason, continued to believe that I had found the man of my dreams; the man with whom I would share the rest of my life and raise a family. I knew Nicholas Washington wasn’t perfect. And as all fairytales of today would dictate, he was handsome, employed and never hesitated to profess his undying love for me. So, through the good times and bad, thick and thin and the many many ups and downs, I knew I had found my Prince Charming. . . . . .that is until I met my Knight in Shining Armor. Now I just need to figure out how to keep from going to hell for feeling so good. (I received this e-mail message one morning from a friend who knows me so well.) Maybe God wanted us to meet the wrong people before meeting the right one so that when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift. Maybe when the door of happiness closes, another opens, but oftentimes we look so long at the closed door that we don’t see the one that has been opened for us. Maybe the best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you’ve ever had. Maybe it is true that we don’t know what we have got until we lose it, but it is also true that we don’t know what we have been missing until it arrives. Giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they will love you back. Don’t expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in their heart; but if it doesn’t, be content it grew in yours. It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, and a day to love someone, but it takes a lifetime to forget someone. Don’t go for looks; they can deceive. Don’t go for wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one who makes your heart smile. There are moments in life when you miss someone so much that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them. Dream what you want to dream, go where you want to go, and be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do. May you have enough happiness to make you sweet Enough trials to make you strong Enough sorrow to keep you human And enough hope to make you happy Always put yourself in others’ shoes If you feel that it hurts you; it probably hurts the other person, too. The happiest of people don’t necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way. Happiness lies for those who cry, those who hurt, those who have searched, and those who tried-for only they can appreciate the importance of people who have touched their lives. Love begins with a smile Grows with a kiss and Ends with a tear The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past You can’t go on well in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.
