The Paradox of Choice Why More Is Less, Revised Edition【電子書籍】[ Barry Schwartz ]

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】The Paradox of Choice Why More Is Less, Revised Edition【電子書籍】[ Barry Schwartz ]

In the spirit of Alvin Toffler’s Future Shock, a social critique of our obsession with choice, decision fatigue and how it contributes to anxiety, dissatisfaction and regret. This paperback includes a new preface from the author.

Whether we're buying a pair of jeans, ordering a cup of coffee, selecting a long-distance carrier, applying to college, choosing a doctor, or setting up a 401(k), everyday decisionsーboth big and smallーhave become increasingly complex due to the phenomenon of choice overload. The cognitive load from this overwhelming abundance of options overwhelms us.

As Americans, we assume that more choice means better options and greater satisfaction. But beware of excessive choice: this choice overload can make you question the decisions you make before you even make them, it can set you up for unrealistically high expectations, and it can make you blame yourself for any and all failures. In the long run, this can lead to decision-making paralysis, a cornerstone of social psychology research, along with anxiety and perpetual stress. And, in a culture that tells us that there is no excuse for falling short of perfection when your options are limitless, too much choice can lead to clinical depression.

In The Paradox of Choice, Barry Schwartz explains at what point choiceーthe hallmark of individual freedom and self-determination that we so cherishーbecomes detrimental to our psychological and emotional well-being. In a fascinating look at the psychology of choice, Schwartz uses accessible, engaging, and anecdotal prose to show how the dramatic explosion in optionsーfrom the mundane to the profound challenges of balancing career, family, and individual needsーhas paradoxically become a problem instead of a solution. Schwartz also shows how our obsession with choice encourages us to seek that which makes us feel worse.

By synthesizing current research in the social sciences, Schwartz makes the counterintuitive case that eliminating choices can greatly reduce the stress, anxiety, and busyness of our lives. He offers eleven practical steps on how to combat this analysis paralysis, limit choices to a manageable number, have the discipline to focus on those that are important (becoming a "satisficer" instead of a "maximizer"), and ultimately derive greater satisfaction from the choices you have to make.

This groundbreaking book reveals the counterintuitive truth about decision-making and offers a powerful framework to:

Escape Decision Fatigue: Understand why the constant pressure to choose is exhausting and learn practical strategies to reduce the cognitive load of everyday decisions.

The Maximizer vs. The Satisficer: Identify your own decision-making style and discover why aiming for "good enough" rather than "the absolute best" leads to greater happiness and less regret.

Boost Happiness and Well-Being: Learn how eliminating choices can paradoxically reduce anxiety, stress, and even the risk of depression by freeing you from the burden of unrealistically high expectations.

Master Modern Decision-Making: Apply eleven practical, science-backed steps to limit your options, focus on what truly matters, and derive genuine satisfaction from the choices you make.

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Radical Markets Uprooting Capitalism and Democracy for a Just Society【電子書籍】[ Eric A. Posner ]

Revolutionary ideas on how to use markets to achieve fairness and prosperity for all

Many blame today's economic inequality, stagnation, and political instability on the free market. The solution is to rein in the market, right? Radical Markets turns this thinking on its head. With a new foreword by Ethereum creator Vitalik Buterin and virtual reality pioneer Jaron Lanier as well as a new afterword by Eric Posner and Glen Weyl, this provocative book reveals bold new ways to organize markets for the good of everyone. It shows how the emancipatory force of genuinely open, free, and competitive markets can reawaken the dormant nineteenth-century spirit of liberal reform and lead to greater equality, prosperity, and cooperation.

Only by radically expanding the scope of markets can we reduce inequality, restore robust economic growth, and resolve political conflicts. But to do that, we must replace our most sacred institutions with truly free and open competitionーRadical Markets shows how.

Financial Feminist Overcome the Patriarchy’s Bullsh*t to Master Your Money and Build a Life You Love【電子書籍】[ Tori Dunlap ]

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Financial Feminist Overcome the Patriarchy’s Bullsh*t to Master Your Money and Build a Life You Love【電子書籍】[ Tori Dunlap ]

An instant New York Times bestseller

From the globally-recognized personal finance educator and social media star behind Her First $100K, an inclusive money management guide to all things moneyーfrom managing debt to investing and voting with your dollars

Tori Dunlap was always good with money. As a kid, she watched her prudent parents balance their checkbook every month and learned to save for musical tickets by gathering pennies in an Altoids tin. But she quickly discovered that her experience with money was pretty unusual, especially among her female friends.

It wasn’t our fault. Investigating this financial literacy and wealth gap, Tori found that girls are significantly less likely to receive a holistic financial education; we’re taught to restrain our spending, while boys are taught about building wealth and rewarded for pursuing it. In adulthood, women are hounded by the unfounded stereotype of the frivolous spenders whose lattes are to blame for the wealth gap. And when something like, say, a global pandemic happens, we’re the first to have jobs cut and the last to re-enter the workforce. It's no wonder money is a source of anxiety and a barrier to equality for so many of us.

But what if money didn't mean restriction, and instead, choice? The ability to luxuriously travel, quit toxic jobs, donate to important organizations, retire early? The freedom to live the life you want, and change the world while you do it?

Tori founded Her First $100K to teach women to overcome the unique obstacles standing in the way of their financial freedom. In Financial Feminist, she distills the principles of her shame- and judgment-free approach to creating a realistic budget, paying off debt, figuring out your value categories to spend mindfully, saving money without monk-like deprivation, and investing for beginners in order to spend your retirement tanning in Tulum.

You will learn:

- Exercises to help you understand your current relationship with money, figure out what you want to change, and how to make that happen

- How to decide on your investment goal, and discover the three steps to meeting it

- The secrets of salary negotiation and how to source the data you need to negotiate the money you deserve

Featuring journaling prompts, deep-dives into the invisible aspects of the financial landscape, and interviews with experts on everything moneyーfrom predatory credit card companies to the racial wealth gap and voting with your dollarsーFinancial Feminist is the ultimate guide to making your money work harder for you (rather than the other way around.)

Evil Geniuses The Unmaking of America: A Recent History【電子書籍】[ Kurt Andersen ]

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Evil Geniuses The Unmaking of America: A Recent History【電子書籍】[ Kurt Andersen ]

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER ? When did America give up on fairness? The author of Fantasyland tells the epic history of how America decided that big business gets whatever it wants, only the rich get richer, and nothing should ever changeーand charts a way back to the future.

“Essential, absorbing . . . a graceful, authoritative guide . . . a radicalized moderate’s moderate case for radical change.”ーThe New York Times Book Review

During the twentieth century, America managed to make its economic and social systems both more and more fair and more and more prosperous. A huge, secure, and contented middle class emerged. All boats rose together. But then the New Deal gave way to the Raw Deal. Beginning in the early 1970s, by means of a long war conceived of and executed by a confederacy of big business CEOs, the superrich, and right-wing zealots, the rules and norms that made the American middle class possible were undermined and dismantled. The clock was turned back on a century of economic progress, making greed good, workers powerless, and the market all-powerful while weaponizing nostalgia, lifting up an oligarchy that served only its own interests, and leaving the huge majority of Americans with dwindling economic prospects and hope.

Why and how did America take such a wrong turn? In this deeply researched and brilliantly woven cultural, economic, and political chronicle, Kurt Andersen offers a fresh, provocative, and eye-opening history of America’s undoing, naming names, showing receipts, and unsparingly assigning blameーto the radical right in economics and the law, the high priests of high finance, a complacent and complicit Establishment, and liberal “useful idiots,” among whom he includes himself.

Only a writer with Andersen’s crackling energy, deep insight, and ability to connect disparate dots and see complex systems with clarity could make such a book both intellectually formidable and vastly entertaining. And only a writer of Andersen’s vision could reckon with our current high-stakes inflection point, and show the way out of this man-made disaster.

Serious Consequences : If you Have No Self Discipline【電子書籍】[ DIGITAL NOMAD ]

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Serious Consequences : If you Have No Self Discipline【電子書籍】[ DIGITAL NOMAD ]

Let’s get one thing clear. The word “discipline” is not precisely popular these days. In detail, many people treat it as the Dictionary word. People think the discipline is outdated or simply inapplicable to our modern age.

It’s easy to think of discipline as picturesque. Something like a relic from the time of our grandparents.

They needed self-discipline, but it is very cool for us to think that we are exempt from it.

It is understandable why many general public have this impression because we live in a society that loves comfort. If you don’t believe me, try ordering a pizza. If you live in a major metropolitan area in the US, the average delivery time is 15 minutes.

If your local pizzeria cannot deliver the items within that time, your pizza is absolutely free. When you go online, when you buy something on Amazon, you are bombarded with all types of free shipping or 2-day delivery deals.

It goes with the region. It seems that the longer we live our lives, the more trained we are to expect instant gratification. We want the good things life has to offer and we want them now. In fact, a lot of people want it yesterday.

That’s how impatient we have become. If you still don’t believe me, when was the last time you read something thoroughly on the Internet? My bet would be a long time ago. Chances are, when you see any kind of news on your Facebook timeline, you are probably scrolling down the page.

It scrolls, it scrolls, it scrolls and it scrolls some more. When you see some kind of keyword, image, or video that you like, that’s when it stops. Once you have a good idea of what the article is talking about, move on to the next item and then the next.

You are hardly alone. The more we use the Internet and interact with people online, our responsiveness (attention) span becomes shorter and shorter. It all comes down to comfort. But here’s the problem. Until you develop self-discipline (self-control) and unless you do, your chances of getting the great things in life are going to decrease.

In fact, depending on your situation, it can be next to impossible. Self-discipline is very important. When you are self-disciplined (self-control), you focus on the big picture. Find it in you to do the difficult and necessary things now so that you can reap greater rewards in the future.

This is not sexy. Far from there. Many people think that this is some kind of heavy lifting. This is a punishment. This is an unpleasant task that they would rather avoid. And who can really blame them? When you’re working on something essential, the payoff may be so far away that it might as well be invisible.

Over the time, you start to think to yourself: “What am I doing? I could be having crazy things with my friends. I could be doing more pleasant things. I can be lazy because well, let’s face it, laziness pays off right away. Hard work pays off in a long time. ”

Do you see the disconnect? Do you see why many people prefer not to pick self-discipline?

Seeing Systems Unlocking the Mysteries of Organizational Life【電子書籍】[ Barry Oshry ]

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Seeing Systems Unlocking the Mysteries of Organizational Life【電子書籍】[ Barry Oshry ]

When breakdowns occur in organizational life, the tendency is to blame them on the personalities, motivations, and abilities of the individuals involved or on the specific characteristics of one’s organization. Barry Oshry demonstrates how everyday breakdowns stem from our failure to see how human systems shape our feelings about ourselves and our relationships with other individuals and groups. He shows how we can transform “system blindness” into system sight, enabling us to live and work together in productive partnership. Based on Oshry’s 30+ years of studying human interaction in social system life, Seeing Systems is profound in its implications while being easily accessible. In addition to illustrative cases and solid systems theory, the book is populated with pinballs; talking body parts; mysterious “swimmers”; amebocytes, slugs, and earthworms; dances of blind reflex; and tunnels of limited options. The result is a unique foundation for revolutionizing our understanding of system life. This new edition is revised throughout and features an extensive new section on having the wisdom and courage to face and work with the reality of uncertainty, a hopeful antidote to today’s righteous battles of certainty versus certainty. The new epilogue describes how Oshry is currently using theater, blogs, and podcasts to extend his multipronged revolution aimed at transforming system blindness into system sight.

Live Nation Hegemony: The Ruthless Consolidation of Concert Ticketing Surcharges, Contracts, and the Unbreakable Entertainment Monopoly in the Global Music Industry【電子書籍】[ Deandre H. Thomas ]

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Live Nation Hegemony: The Ruthless Consolidation of Concert Ticketing Surcharges, Contracts, and the Unbreakable Entertainment Monopoly in the Global Music Industry【電子書籍】[ Deandre H. Thomas ]

Buying a concert ticket today feels less like a transaction and more like a shakedown. Fans endure digital queues, dynamic pricing that adjusts to demand in real-time, and exorbitant "service fees" that can double the cost of entry. This infuriating experience is entirely by design, engineered by the absolute monopolistic control of the Live Nation and Ticketmaster merger. By controlling not only the ticketing software but also the physical venues, the artist management, and the promotional infrastructure, this corporate behemoth has eliminated any meaningful competition. If an independent venue refuses to use their ticketing system, they simply route the world's biggest pop stars to a compliant competitor. This vertical integration allows them to artificially inflate prices, blame scalpers for shortages, and extract massive rents from both artists and fans. The resulting cartel has stifled innovation and turned the joy of live music into an exclusive luxury product, operating with total impunity against antitrust legislation. This deep dive exposes the predatory legal contracts and dark algorithms that dictate the live event economy. Readers will learn the precise economic mechanics of how a single corporation cornered the multi-billion-dollar experience market.

The Self-Driving You【電子書籍】[ Alan Bodnar ]

What if most of your thoughts, emotions, habits, and behaviors were not chosen by you?

In The Self-Driving You, neurophilosopher Alan Bodnar introduces an original metaphor, explaining how we are the secondary driver of a self-driving-first system that generates most of our thoughts and actions. Our brain impartially forms patterns that, with repetition, become the automatic responses that drive us. We are born with some hardwired patterns, but experience does the rest.

A lifetime of experience wires our self-driving system, providing instant responses to everything we encounter, while we, as the driver, interact with the results. For most, our self-driving system becomes miscalibrated, producing chronic acceleration in the form of anxiety, depression, and self-blame. We often personalize these responses, feel helpless, and blame ourselves as we do our best to hang on.

There is good news: we are not powerless.

We are the driver.

Each of us has an executive driver inside who can take the wheel to override these automatic responses, but we rarely do because we have never been shown how. Most of us are asleep at the wheel, but deliberate attention is our secret power to wake our driver within and apply the brake when our vehicle accelerates.

In this book, you will discover:

80-95% of our thoughts and actions initially arise from the self-driving system, while we, as the driver, decide whether to go with them.

We are asleep at the wheel, mindlessly associating with every self-driving response.

Deliberate attention is the secret power that we can use, especially through practices like mindfulness, to wake our driver and wire our brain toward the life we want.

The brain is an impartial network, and we are the drivers who can direct how it wires.

With 10,000 hours of deliberate thought and action, any person can tune their brain to mastery in any domain of their choosing.

Blending neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and mindfulness, The Self-Driving You is both a scientific explanation of the brain and a practical manual for transformation. After more than a decade of research and personal experimentation, Bodnar offers a roadmap for waking the driver within to retrain the self-driving system to drive with greater balance.

We are not the broken; we are just asleep at the wheel.

It's time to wake up and take control.

Liberate Your Business A radical guide for entrepreneurs building inside a broken system【電子書籍】[ Becky Mollenkamp ]

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Liberate Your Business A radical guide for entrepreneurs building inside a broken system【電子書籍】[ Becky Mollenkamp ]

Liberate Your Business: A Radical Guide for Entrepreneurs Building Inside a Broken System is for people who started businesses to do meaningful, values-driven work-and then found themselves burned out, ashamed, and quietly wondering if they've become the very thing they wanted to resist.

If you've been told your exhaustion is a mindset problem, your boundaries are "bad for growth," or that harm is just the unavoidable cost of entrepreneurship, this book offers a different truth: you are not failing. Business as we've been taught is failing you.

Written for ethical entrepreneurs, feminist founders, and mission-driven business owners, Liberate Your Business draws on anti-capitalist, feminist, and liberatory frameworks to dismantle the myths of hustle culture, endless growth, and supposedly "neutral" systems. It shows how capitalism shapes our beliefs about productivity, leadership, worth, and success-and how those beliefs quietly reproduce burnout, inequality, and harm, even in well-intentioned businesses.

This is not a how-to guide for quitting capitalism or achieving moral purity inside a rigged system. It's a grounded, honest guide for entrepreneurs who know opting out isn't realistic, but refuse to keep operating on autopilot. Through sharp analysis, reflective exercises, and practical reframes, Becky Mollenkamp helps readers unlearn internalized capitalist conditioning and build businesses that prioritize human needs, collective well-being, and long-term sustainability-without pretending the system isn't still broken.

Inside, you'll find:

Clear language for the invisible pressures shaping modern entrepreneurship

Reframes that replace self-blame with systemic understanding

Practices for ethical leadership, consent-based decision-making, and accountability

Tools for redefining success beyond profit, productivity, and scale

Liberate Your Business is not about doing business perfectly. It's about doing it consciously-with eyes open, values intact, and the courage to stop normalizing harm. For entrepreneurs who want to keep building, but not at the cost of themselves, their teams, or their communities, this book offers a way forward that is honest, humane, and deeply liberating.

And What Can Be Done To Fix It【電子書籍】[ Mark Pilkington ]

An insightful review of the collapse of the traditional retail sector in the West, and a roadmap for its potential recovery.

Almost weekly, the news is full of stories about disappearing retail chains. From House of Fraser and BHS to Toys'R'Us and Sears, recognised names are vanishing overnight ? as such large organizations disappear, so the malls, shopping centres, high streets and main streets become emptier and less appealing to visit.

The retail sector is hugely important in terms of job numbers: in the US, it employs around 30 million people (directly and indirectly); in the UK, around 10 million. As such, anything that jeopardises the retail sector will have a deep and lasting impact on millions of lives, as well as on public policy. While many blame the 'Amazon effect', this is an oversimplification. Deeper forces are at work that are changing people's relationships with brands, the balance of power between producers and consumers, and the whole nature of the supply chain that has existed since the industrial revolution.

Retail Therapy offers a comprehensive analysis of these forces and their impact on the world of retailing. More importantly, it presents a cogent analysis of the longer term trends that are shaping retailing, and outlines a clear road map for sustainable success in the future.

Selling Certainty The Shadow Economy of Corporate Consulting and the Illusion of Strategy【電子書籍】[ Grant Sterling ]

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Selling Certainty The Shadow Economy of Corporate Consulting and the Illusion of Strategy【電子書籍】[ Grant Sterling ]

When a major corporation faces a crisis, contemplates a massive layoff, or considers a risky merger, the CEO inevitably calls in an elite management consulting firm. Armies of young MBAs arrive with polished slide decks, complex frameworks, and exorbitant invoices. But the quiet truth of the consulting industry is that they rarely provide genuinely new strategic insights. What they actually sell is institutional cover. In an increasingly volatile business landscape, executives use prestigious consulting firms to outsource accountability. If a restructuring fails, the board cannot blame the CEO; they followed the advice of the world's most expensive experts. The consulting model is a multi-billion-dollar validation engine, designed to rubber-stamp decisions management has already made, providing the mathematical theater required to justify unpopular actions to shareholders and employees. This piercing critique dismantles the mystique of elite strategy firms. It reveals the psychological mechanics of risk aversion in the C-suite and explains how relying on outsourced intelligence hollows out a company's internal capabilities, ultimately making organizations less innovative and more dependent on the illusion of certainty.

The Idiot Filter【電子書籍】[ James Manson ]

The Idiot Filter: How to Stop Letting Stupid People Ruin Your Day

Every professional has a moment when they realize that being good at the work is not, by itself, sufficient protection against the people who are bad at everything else.

The colleague who presents your analysis as their own. The manager whose priorities pivot faster than delivery is possible. The meeting running on its forty-seventh minute toward a wrong decision made with perfect confidence. The email that establishes, in front of exactly the right audience, that the delay is entirely your fault.

These are not bad luck. They are not random. They are the predictable behaviors of recognizable archetypes, the Loud & Wrong, the Black Hole, the Credit Vampire, the Bouncy Ball, the Brick Wall, the Well-Meaning Chaos Agent, operating in professional environments that have never developed a systematic response to them. Most careers absorb this damage indefinitely, because nobody provides the tools to stop it.

The Idiot Filter provides the tools.

Across fourteen chapters and four parts, the book builds a complete five-layer professional operating system: the Teflon Mindset (the cognitive gap between provocation and reaction, built by practice), the Paper Trail Fortress (the documentary record that precedes every dispute and survives every blame-shift), the Boundary Bumper (the time and energy structures that protect the work that actually matters), the Dolphin Pod (the small, honest relational network that keeps the other layers calibrated), and the Async Armor (the tools for the inbox, the chat thread, and the always-on environments where the archetypes do their most sustained damage).

The filter is then applied to the three environments where professional dysfunction lives most reliably, meetings, inboxes, and the managed relationship, with specific scenarios, specific tools, and the honest account of what each layer does under real professional pressure.

Part IV addresses the long game: the maintenance practices that keep the filter running across a changing career, the critical distinction between an environment that is merely difficult and one that is structurally toxic, and, finally, what consistent practice produces in the person who builds and maintains it. Not peace. Not an idiot-free environment. A professional life in which the idiots get less of you than they would otherwise take, and the work gets more.

For anyone who has ever left a meeting depleted, sent an email they immediately regretted, or watched a year of careful work attributed to someone else in a single confident sentence, this is the book that was missing.

Core Thesis of the Book Agile Product Manager by Derek Abishua is not about shipping features but driving measurable outcomes through strategic discipline. The role requires influence without authority, operating at the intersection of customer needs, business viability, and technical feasibility.

Key Frameworks

Product Lifecycle Operating Model: Four continuous phasesーDiscover (problem validation), Define (solution design), Deliver (build/launch), Optimize (measure/iterate)ーthat de-risk development and institutionalize learning.

Market-Back Strategy: Winning products begin outside the building. PMs must filter opportunities through three lenses: urgency (real customer pain), market size (viable economics), and unique advantage (defensible moat).

Prioritization Economics: Every decision carries an opportunity cost. High-impact PMs use frameworks like RICE (Reach, Impact, Confidence, Effort) and treat roadmaps as investment portfolios, focusing on outcomes over outputs.

Execution Excellence

- Cross-functional alignment is engineered through shared problem definitions, not meetings. PMs must translate strategy for engineering (feasibility), design (usability), marketing (narrative), and finance (viability).

- Metrics discipline focuses on four leading indicators: adoption (activation rate), engagement (habit formation), retention (cohort curves), and LTV/CAC (unit economics). If a metric doesn't change decisions, it doesn't matter.

- Experimentation mindset transforms opinions into falsifiable hypotheses. High-maturity cultures celebrate "kill rates" (killing bad ideas early) and treat failed experiments as learning, not failure.

Leadership Mindset

Five traits distinguish great PMs: customer obsession (systematic user immersion), structured thinking (decomposing complexity), ownership mentality (no blame-shifting), bias for action (learning through doing), and learning agility (updating beliefs based on evidence).

Conclusion: In volatile markets, learning velocityーthe ability to convert uncertainty into validated insight faster than competitorsーis the only sustainable advantage. Agile PMs architect systems that make good decisions inevitable, not accidental.

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Understanding ADHD: Why You Can Care and Still Struggle to Act ADHD & Me, #1【電子書籍】[ James Anstee ]

Have you ever spent an entire day thinking about something important… and still couldn't start it? You remembered. You cared. You even felt anxious about it. And yet the action never happened. This book explains one of the most confusing experiences of adult ADHD: the gap between intention and action. Written from lived experience in clear, plain language, *Understanding ADHD* describes why deadlines suddenly create focus, why small tasks feel heavier than large ones, why bills get delayed even when you want to pay them, and why repeated struggles slowly damage self-trust. Instead of blame or clinical terminology, this book focuses on mechanism ー how activation works, why consequences sometimes fail to motivate, and how environment affects behavior. You are not lazy. You are not careless. And you are not the only person who has lived this pattern. If you have ever wondered, "Why can I do things sometimes but not others?", this book was written to answer that question.

Breaking Generational Emotional Patterns Exploring the Inherited Feelings, Unspoken Rules, and Silent Wounds Passed Down Through Families【電子書籍】[ Selene Rothwell ]

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Breaking Generational Emotional Patterns Exploring the Inherited Feelings, Unspoken Rules, and Silent Wounds Passed Down Through Families【電子書籍】[ Selene Rothwell ]

Some of what you feel was never originally yours. The anxiety that arrives without a clear source, the way you shrink in certain moments, the emotional responses that seem disproportionate ー these can be echoes of experiences carried silently across generations, passed down not through words but through behavior, atmosphere, and the things no one ever talked about. This book explores how emotional patterns travel through family lines ー how unprocessed grief, unspoken shame, and inherited fear quietly shape the way each generation loves, struggles, and sees itself. It examines the invisible contracts that form inside families, the emotional roles that get handed down, and the subtle ways children absorb what their parents could not resolve. Rather than framing generational patterns as burdens to overcome, this book offers a compassionate lens for understanding them ー not to assign blame across generations, but to develop a clearer awareness of what was absorbed, what was learned, and what belongs to whom. For anyone who has recognized something familiar in their struggles ー something that feels older than their own life ー this is a thoughtful, honest exploration of how family emotional history lives in the present.

Reflections on the Loss of the Freeborn American Nation Banksters Against People【電子書籍】[ H. L. Dowless ]

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Reflections on the Loss of the Freeborn American Nation Banksters Against People【電子書籍】[ H. L. Dowless ]

How did American society evolve from a land of independent farmers and entrepreneurs to a nation increasingly shaped by the interests of large corporations and government institutions? Through a tapestry of historical narrative, economic analysis, and personal insight, Dowless crafts a book that is both informative and quietly urgent. Central themes include the debate over whether to have a US central bank, the rise of currency manipulation in the United States, and sources of the US Civil War.

Reflections on the Loss of the Freeborn American Nation by H. L. Dowless is a thought-provoking journey through the currents of American history, economic transformation, and the subtle erosion of individual liberties through bureaucracy, taxation and regulations. The argument is documented and illustrated with archival research as well as eye-witness evidence from the past half a century, in which so many of the charming features of small-town America have disappeared. Who ever thought kids could be barred from setting up lemonade stands in their own driveways?

Rather than a polemical manifesto or a dry academic treatise, this book invites readers on a guided tour through the nation's past and present, drawing connections between the founding ideals of enterprise and freedom, and the realities of centralized power and economic collusion.

At its core, Reflections on the Loss of the Freeborn American Nation educates readers on how these issues matter in our everyday lives. The author encourages readers to revisit the foundational questions of American life: What is liberty? Who truly benefits from progress? And how can a society balance prosperity, security, and individual rights? Zooming in on the intersection of history, economics, and citizenship, Dowless's work offers a rich, nuanced, and accessible perspective.

Dowless begins by unraveling the narrative of America's formation, tracing the influence of corporate and government interests from the early colonial period to modern times. He weaves together stories of exploration, settlement, and nation-building with an eye for the everyday experiences of ordinary people-farmers, artisans, and entrepreneurs-who forged their livelihoods through ingenuity and hard work. Yet, as the narrative unfolds, Dowless demonstrates how these independent spirits became caught in a web of mandates, regulations, and financial manipulations that subtly shifted the balance of power away from the individual and toward an alliance of banks, corporations, and political elites.

This book stands out for its balanced tone and commitment to clarity. Dowless does not indulge in simplistic blame or conspiracy, but rather, he invites readers to look at the evidence and ask their own questions about the trajectory of the American experiment. He reviews key historical episodes, from the Boston Tea Party to the Panic of 1857, showing how emotional appeals and propaganda have often been used to distract people from the deeper struggles over resources and control. The dry facts are illustrated by personal anecdotes and observations, so that the issues hit home. Suddenly abstract concepts like economic policy, regulation, and the shifting meaning of "the American Dream" are real, and matter.

Blame the Intern On (Not) Breaking into the Creative Economy【電子書籍】[ Alexandre Frenette ]

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Blame the Intern On (Not) Breaking into the Creative Economy【電子書籍】[ Alexandre Frenette ]

An inside look at the work lives of college interns and their uncertain path to paid employment

While generations of young adults used to spend their summers working as lifeguards or camp counselors, college students today are more likely to seek office experience as interns. Blame the Intern takes readers into the workspaces of the music industry to show how internships, especially unpaid ones, are problematic introductions to the working world that often provide little valuable training and are unlikely to lead to a job.

Since the 1980s, shifts in labor markets and careers have made employers less prone to invest in training entry-level employees who may quickly change jobs anyway. In recent decades, higher education has filled the gap, fueling an explosive growth of internships to facilitate the transition from college to a career. Drawing on in-depth interviews with interns, record label employees, and college personnel, as well as his own experiences as an unpaid intern at two music industry firms in New York City, Alexandre Frenette sheds light on who benefits from the intern economy, who suffers, and why. He finds that internships are rife with ambiguity because employers are neither trained nor greatly rewarded to mentor and colleges are ill-equipped to provide workplace guidance. As a result, there is little consensus about what interns should be doing or what benefits they should be gaining from their experience, which can often lead to inequality, exploitation, and disappointment.

Timely and provocative, Blame the Intern demonstrates how employers and institutions of higher learning are redefining what it means to break inーand reveals what happens when few can.

An Economy Is Not A Society Winners and Losers in the New Australia【電子書籍】[ Dennis Glover ]

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】An Economy Is Not A Society Winners and Losers in the New Australia【電子書籍】[ Dennis Glover ]

In modern Australia, productivity is all that matters, our leaders tell us. Economic growth above all else. But is this really what we, the people, want? Does it make our lives and our communities better?

If the high priests of economics want the credit for Australia's economic growth over the last three decades, they must also wear the blame for the social destruction that has accompanied it ? the devastation of once prosperous industrial centres and the suburbs they sustained, as factories closed and workers were forced to abandon their trades. The social costs of this 'economic modernisation' have been immense, but today are virtually ignored. The fracturing of communities continues apace.

An Economy Is Not a Society is a passionate and personal J'accuse against the people whose abandonment of moral policy making has ripped the guts out of Australia's old industrial communities, robbed the country of manufacturing knowhow, reversed our national ethos of egalitarianism and broken the sense of common purpose that once existed between rulers and ruled.

Those in power, Dennis Glover argues, must abandon the idea that a better society is purely about offering individuals more dollars in their pockets. What we desperately need is a conversation about the lives, working conditions, jobs and communities we want for ourselves and our families ? and we need to choose a future that is designed to benefit all the Australian people, not just some.

The Domestication of Truth How Smart Organizations Learn to Unsee Reality【電子書籍】[ Alok K. Agrawal ]

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】The Domestication of Truth How Smart Organizations Learn to Unsee Reality【電子書籍】[ Alok K. Agrawal ]

Most smart organizations don't suffer from a lack of ideas. They suffer from a gap between what they can see and what they are willing to commit to.

That gap is not just a leadership flaw or a culture problem. It is a predictable outcome of how institutions manage uncertainty. When the stakes rise, risk gets re-described as rigor.

Decisions get turned into process. The organization stays busy, stays thoughtful, and stays technically uncommitted, while the window quietly closes.

This book is about why commitment matters, and why it is the only way to earn asymmetric gains. The upside you want does not come from having more options on paper. It comes from making a few choices real, early enough that compounding works in your favor. Commitment is what concentrates time, talent, and attention long enough for learning to accumulate, for execution to get traction, and for second-order effects to show up. Without it, even good strategy decays into motion without consequence.

You'll learn to tell the difference between disciplined uncertainty and polite evasion, and you'll get an operating system for commitment that works inside real organizations.

Inside the book, you'll learn how to:

separate truth from commitment long enough to reach a real decision

name an owner with decision rights without creating martyrdom

bind time with forcing dates and protect the window

run renewal cadence so work does not continue by inertia

treat optionality as something you preserve by paying for learning, criteria, and expiry

use constraint to create speed at scale rather than bureaucracy

The book names the patterns clearly, not to blame institutions, but to make them legible, so you can change them. It replaces alignment theater with a discipline that turns insight into action, and action into compounding advantage.

This is a book for leaders, operators, strategists, and builders who want momentum that lasts.

If you can see what needs to be done, but your organization keeps finding reasons not to decide, this book shows you how to make commitment a capability.

This book is for anyone who has survived experiences that left invisible wounds and wondered if wholeness was ever possible again.

Through personal reflection, spiritual insight, and emotional awareness, SaBrina Fisher Reece examines how unresolved pain creates "holes" in the heart and mind, shaping our thoughts, reactions, relationships, and sense of self.

Self-Sabotage: Learning Not to Be Your Own Worst Enemy is a powerful exploration of the quiet ways we work against ourselves without even realizing it. This book is not about blame or shame. It is about awareness, compassion, and the courage to interrupt patterns that were formed in survival but no longer serve who you are becoming.

Many of us carry invisible wounds from trauma, abandonment, loss, or repeated disappointment. Over time, those wounds shape our thoughts, reactions, and choices. We second-guess ourselves. We push away love. We stay stuck in cycles we say we want to escape. We call it fear, timing, or bad luck, but often it is something deeper. It is self-sabotage rooted in pain that was never given space to heal.

Through reflection, emotional insight, and spiritual grounding, SaBrina Fisher Reece invites readers to look inward with honesty instead of judgment. She explores how self-sabotage shows up in relationships, self-worth, decision-making, and personal growth, not as a character flaw, but as a learned response to past hurt. With clarity and compassion, this book helps readers understand why they do what they do, and more importantly, how to choose differently.

This is a book for anyone who has felt stuck in their own patterns, exhausted by repeating the same lessons, or frustrated by knowing what they want but feeling unable to reach it. It is for those who are ready to stop fighting themselves and start working with their mind, emotions, and energy instead of against them.

Self-Sabotage does not promise quick fixes or surface-level motivation. It offers something far more meaningful. Awareness that leads to freedom. Understanding that leads to choice. And self-love that is rooted in truth, not perfection.

If you are ready to stop being your own worst enemy and begin becoming your strongest ally, this book will meet you exactly where you are.
