Its spectacular action, rhapsodic landscapes and tragic romance have touched audiences in Asia, North America and around the world and won over 40 awards and was nominated for 10 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and won Best Foreign Language Film, Best Art Direction, Best Original Score and Best Cinematography. In 2019, the film was ranked the 51st in 100 best films of the 21st century list by Guardian.＜/p＞ ＜p＞Dulu Wang is considered one of the five greatest wuxia (which literally means "martial hero") fiction writers of the Northern School in the Republican. He was less interested in writing about ruthless killings; instead he focused on his characters' development, their emotions, friendship, and passions. Wang had great sympathy for women who suffered cruel oppression by the society and its feudal system, and his novels featured many strong female characters, warriors, and heroines. Most of his stories featured tragic endings. His perfect combination of chivalry, romance and tragedy in his novels have thrilled many critics and readers and this style have influenced many authors.＜/p＞ ＜p＞During 1925-1949 Wang published more 90 novels and thousands of articles and poems.＜/p＞ ＜p＞"Purple Light, Blue Frost" was published in 1944 and edited and modified by Hong Wang in 2020. The story occurred in Qing Dynasty that some knights and normal people sacrificed their lives to make two steel-cutting swords (Purple Light and Blue Frost) and used them to kill evils who falsely accused Nian Gengyao and caused his death in 1726. It is, instead, an encyclopedic collection of specialized data on every aspect of painting and painting research.＜br /＞ The book is divided into five sections: Mediums, Adhesives, and Film Substances (amber, beeswax, casein, cellulose, nitrate, dragon's blood, egg tempera, paraffin, lacquer, gum Arabic, Strasbourg turpentine, water glass, etc.); Pigments and Inert Materials (over 100 entries from alizarin to zinnober green); Solvents, Diluents, and Detergents (acetone, ammonia, carbon tetrachloride, soap, water, etc.); Supports (academy board, dozens of different woods, esparto grass, gesso, glass, leather, plaster, silk, vellum, etc.); and Tools and Equipment.＜br /＞ Coverage within each section is exhaustive. Thirteen pages are devoted to items related to linseed oil; eleven to the history and physical and chemical properties of pigments; two to artificial ultramarine blue; eleven to wood; and so on with hundreds of entries. Much of the information ー physical behavior, earliest known use, chemical composition, history of synthesis, refractive index, etc. ー is difficult to find elsewhere. The rest was drawn from such a wide range of fields and from such a long span of time that the book was immediately hailed as the best organized, most accessible work of its kind.＜br /＞ That reputation hasn't changed. The author's new preface lists some recent discoveries regarding pigments and other materials and the pigment composition chart has been revised, but the text remains essentially unchanged.
