【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Troubled in the Land of Enchantment Adolescent Experience of Psychiatric Treatment【電子書籍】[ Janis H. Jenkins ]

In this groundbreaking study based on five years of in-depth ethnographic and interdisciplinary research, Troubled in the Land of Enchantment explores the well-being of adolescents hospitalized for psychiatric care in New Mexico. Anthropologists Janis H. Jenkins and Thomas J. Csordas present a gripping picture of psychic distress, familial turmoil, and treatment under the regime of managed care that dominates the mental health care system. The authors make the case for the centrality of struggle in the lives of youth across an array of extraordinary conditions, characterized by personal anguish and structural violence. Critical to the analysis is the cultural phenomenology of existence disclosed through shifting narrative accounts by youth and their families as they grapple with psychiatric diagnosis, poverty, misogyny, and stigma in their trajectories through multiple forms of harm and sites of care. Jenkins and Csordas compellingly direct our attention to the conjunction of lived experience, institutional power, and the very possibility of having a life.
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。 ※ご購入は、楽天kobo商品ページからお願いします。※切り替わらない場合は、こちら をクリックして下さい。 ※このページからは注文できません。

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Thunderclap Headache, A Simple Guide To The Condition, Diagnosis, Treatment And Related Conditions【電子書籍】[ Kenneth Kee ]

This book describes Thunderclap Headache, Diagnosis and Treatment and Related Diseases

A thunderclap headache is a very painful headache that happens suddenly, like a clap of thunder.

This type of headache achieves its most intense pain within 1 minute and persists at least 5 minutes.

Thunderclap headaches attack a person suddenly without any warning.

Some of these headaches are benign (not dangerous).

They can also be a sign of very serious underlying disorders that involve bleeding in and around the brain.

It is important to obtain medical attention immediately to exclude life-threatening causes of a thunderclap headache.

The International Headache Society describes a primary thunderclap headache as a high-intensity headache of abrupt start imitating that of a ruptured cerebral aneurysm, in the absence of any intracranial pathology.

This type of headache pain does not slowly build in intensity.

Instead, it is an extreme and very painful headache as soon as it begins.

In fact, it is often described as the worse headache of one’s life.

A thunderclap headache may be an indication of a disorder that can be life-threatening.

It may be related to some sort of bleeding in the brain.

It is essential that the patient seeks medical attention if the patient thinks the patient may be having one.

It may also have a benign cause that is not life-threatening but should still be evaluated immediately to find out what is causing it.

Primary TCH is infrequent and should not have the symptoms of misrepresented cognition and focal neurological deficits.

Around 75% of thunderclap headaches are indicated to be primary headaches.

This headache type is due to pain structures inside the brain.

At occasions the brain structures may become overactive or malfunction.

This causes a brain pain disorder with no underlying disorder.

A primary thunderclap can also be produced by chemical imbalances within the brain or even hereditary factors.

In the same way, lifestyle factors such as stress, certain foods, particular substances, changes in sleep patterns, or loss of sleep etc. can also activate them.

Secondary

The remainder 25% happens due to underlying causes or diseases that stimulate the pain sensors within the brain.

A secondary thunderclap can, hence, be serious and occasionally even life-threatening if not treated instantly.

Some causes of secondary thunderclap headaches are brain aneurysms, broken or damaged blood vessels in the brain, blood clots, concussion, and other physical injuries etc.

As the patient can see, when happening in secondary form, they possibly manifest greater immediate danger than primary headaches do.

Before making any conclusions, the patient can consult the doctor to receive an accurate diagnosis.

Once a doctor identifies what has happened, they will be in a position to provide a suitable treatment plan

These symptoms can be:

Severe headache pain that begins out of nowhere

Vomiting and nausea

Fainting

Feeling as if it is the worst possible headache the patient has ever had

Pain felt anywhere in the head

Headache pain such as the neck or lower back

After a physical evaluation and getting information about the symptoms, the doctor will normally begin with a CT scan.

CT scans will often be sufficient for the doctor to find the cause.

If necessary a lumbar puncture may be done for CSF tests
The treatments are directed on treating the cause of the headache.

Treatments may be:

Surgery to repair a tear or blockage

Medicines to control blood pressure

Pain medicines to regulate recurrent thunderclap headaches, mainly those that have a specific trigger

TABLE OF CONTENT
Introduction
Chapter 1 Thunderclap Headache
Chapter 2 Causes
Chapter 3 Symptoms
Chapter 4 Diagnosis
Chapter 5 Treatment
Chapter 6 Prognosis
Chapter 7 Migraine
Chapter 8 Sub-arachmoid Hemorrhage
Epilogue
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。 ※ご購入は、楽天kobo商品ページからお願いします。※切り替わらない場合は、こちら をクリックして下さい。 ※このページからは注文できません。

Ice Cream Headache, A Simple Guide To The Condition, Diagnosis, Treatment And Related Conditions【電子書籍】[ Kenneth Kee ]

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Ice Cream Headache, A Simple Guide To The Condition, Diagnosis, Treatment And Related Conditions【電子書籍】[ Kenneth Kee ]

This book describes Ice cream Headache, Diagnosis and Treatment and Related Diseases

Have you ever bite into an ice cream and suddenly feel your head starting to hurt and your brain feels like frozen?
I have and I know how much my head aches.
Since that day 20 years ago I have tried not to eat any ice cream.

Ice Cream Headache or Sphenopalatine Ganglioneuralgia (nerve pain of the sphenopalatine ganglion) is a type of migraine headache that is activated by eating cold foods (oropharyngeal irritation due to cold foods), the consumption of which may produce bi-frontal headaches.
It is also termed brain freeze, cold-rush, cold-stimulus headache especially after quick consumption of cold beverages or foods such as ice cream and ice pops.

While the patient may feel pain, it is not dangerous and does not indicate that anything is wrong in the body.
The ice cream headache goes away quickly with a rush of pain-killing endorphins canceling out the pain.
There is a sharp, stabbing pain in the forehead
The head pain peaks about 30 to 60 seconds after it begins
The head pain rarely lasts longer than five minutes
But no matter what it is called, it hurts like hell.

When some cold item touches the roof of the mouth (palate), the sudden temperature alteration of the tissue there activates the nerves to produce rapid dilation and swelling of blood vessels.
This action is to try to direct blood to the area and warm it up again.
The dilation of the blood vessels activates pain receptors, which then secrete pain-causing prostaglandins, raise sensitivity to further pain, and cause inflammation while sending signals through the trigeminal nerve to alert the brain to the problem.
Since the trigeminal nerve also feels the facial pain, the brain construes the pain signal as coming from the forehead.

The research by Harvard Medical School used trans-cranial Doppler imaging to study blood flow in the brains of patients while they had ice cream headaches or brain freeze induced using iced water.
They also conducted the experiment with normal temperature water as a control.
The results reveal that ice cream headaches is followed by a rapid dilation of the anterior cerebral artery, which fills the brain with blood and in turn causes pain.
When the vessel constricts, the patients report that the pain has disappeared.
The doctors believe that it is a form of self-protection for the brain:
The brain is one of the important organs in the body and it should be kept working all the time

Ice cream headaches can affect anyone.
The patient may be more vulnerable to ice cream headaches or have more-severe ice cream headaches if he or she is prone to migraines.
The headaches may also be more frequent among people with a history of head injuries.

Diagnosis
The diagnosis of ice cream headache is medical.
A history of eating ice cream or a cold environment is important for the diagnosis.
X-rays, MRI, EEG and laboratory tests are only required to exclude other secondary causes of headaches such as tumors, inflammation, trauma, seizures etc
Treatment
The headache recovers within 10 minutes of removing the cold stimulus.
It does not need any medical treatment but relief can be obtained from one of these:

Pressing the tongue against the roof of the mouth to warm the area or

Tilting the head back for about 10 seconds.

Drinking a liquid that has a higher temperature than the substance that produced the ice cream headache.

Breathing in through the mouth and out through the nose, thus moving warm air through the nasal passages.

TABLE OF CONTENT
Introduction
Chapter 1 Ice cream Headache
Chapter 2 Causes
Chapter 3 Symptoms
Chapter 4 Diagnosis
Chapter 5 Treatment
Chapter 6 Prognosis
Chapter 7 Migraine Headache
Chapter 8 Trigeminal Neuralgia
Epilogue
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。 ※ご購入は、楽天kobo商品ページからお願いします。※切り替わらない場合は、こちら をクリックして下さい。 ※このページからは注文できません。

Spinal Disorders, A Simple Guide To The Condition, Diagnosis, Treatment And Improvised Treatment【電子書籍】[ Kenneth Kee ]

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Spinal Disorders, A Simple Guide To The Condition, Diagnosis, Treatment And Improvised Treatment【電子書籍】[ Kenneth Kee ]

This book describes Spinal Disorders, Diagnosis and Treatment and Improvised Treatment
The spine is a column of 26 bones in an adult body with 24 separate vertebrae interspaced with cartilage, and then the sacrum and coccyx in addition.
The spine has an extremely important part to play in the human body as it:

Supports the upper body’s weight;

Provides posture while allowing for movement and flexibility; and

Protects the spinal cord
Any spinal disorders can cause problems for the patient the spine is needed for movement and support of the body.
The Focused Spine Assessment is an important tool to assess any spinal injury or disorder.
If the patient is awake, ambulatory, and able to safely self-evacuate, the person should exercise caution during the evacuation to avoid additional trauma to the patient's spine.
The ideal evacuation would occur within 6-24 hours to correspond with the swelling curve.
When a spinal injury patient enters a hospital, one of the first requirements is to appraise the extent of the injury.
Up until recently, the main method to assess a spinal cord injury was using physical tests that measure a patient's capability to feel and move their arms and legs.
This is not always a very accurate indication, particularly immediately after an injury.
Very often, spinal injury patients have other injuries:

They may have broken arms or legs,

They may have a head injury

They may be unconscious
There are several reasons why it can be hard to get a good examination on patients
A new protocol is based on a recent study that found the most important factor in a patient's recovery is actually related to blood pressure in the spine.
The spinal cord regulates blood pressure in the body, so if it is injured, the body may not be able to maintain adequate blood pressure.
Doctors actually measured each individual patient's blood flow to the spine.
Then doctors only artificially raised blood pressure as required to reach a patient's unique resting pressure.
Timing of Surgery
The other game-changing part of the new protocol is getting patients who require surgery into the operating room as fast as possible, ideally within 12 hours of the injury.
In earlier years within 48 hours was regarded as early surgery for spinal injuries.
The time wasted could have been for such things as waiting to evaluate a patient's mobility when he or she finally wakes up.
The urgency of the new protocol benefited patients enormously.
Intra-Articular Injections
When oral analgesics are not readily available, intra-articular injections may be used.
The injections are relatively easy to do at the knee, elbow, shoulder, and any joint that is dislocated.
However, they are not very good at providing immediate analgesia.
Although immediate analgesic effects may not be significant, intra-articular morphine injections can result in up to 3 days of analgesia due to its low lipid solubility and the joint’s low blood flow.
When local anesthetics are more readily available than other analgesics, postoperative infusions of local anesthetics can reduce pain.
There are several conservative (non-surgical) treatment methods available that are the first line of treatment to help relieve the pain and stiffness caused by spinal arthritis and related disc degeneration.
Helpful first line pain management techniques are rest, heat and cold therapy and various medications for reducing pain and inflammation.
Many patients will need to regularly employ a combination of all three techniques in order to be able to focus on rehabilitation, exercise and healthy daily activities.

TABLE OF CONTENT
Introduction
Chapter 1 Spinal Disorders
Chapter 2 Osteoarthritis
Chapter 3 Rheumatoid Arthritis
Chapter 4 Ankylosing Spondylosis
Chapter 5 Spinal Stenosis
Chapter 6 Scoliosis
Chapter 7 Kyphosis
Chapter 8 Improvised Spinal Care
Epilogue
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。 ※ご購入は、楽天kobo商品ページからお願いします。※切り替わらない場合は、こちら をクリックして下さい。 ※このページからは注文できません。

Forearm Fractures, A Simple Guide To The Condition, Diagnosis, Treatment And Related Conditions【電子書籍】[ Kenneth Kee ]

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Forearm Fractures, A Simple Guide To The Condition, Diagnosis, Treatment And Related Conditions【電子書籍】[ Kenneth Kee ]

This book describes Forearm Fractures, Diagnosis and Treatment and Related Diseases
Forearm fractures are frequent in childhood, responsible for more than 40% of all childhood fractures.
The forearm comprises 2 bones: the radius and the ulna.
About 75% forearm fractures in children happen at the wrist end of the radius.
Forearm fractures often happen when children are playing on the playground or taking part in sports.
If a child takes a trip and falls onto an outstretched arm, there is a chance it may lead to a forearm fracture.
A child's bones recover more quickly than an adult's, so it is important to treat a fracture promptly before healing begins to avoid future problems.
Causes:
Fractures can happen in one or both bones of the forearm, and in a number of places along the bone:

Near the wrist, at the farthest (distal) end of the bone

In the middle of the forearm

Near the elbow, at the top (proximal) end of the bone
There are several forms of forearm fractures in children:

Torus fracture
This is a stable fracture, indicating that the broken pieces of bone are still remained in place and have not displaced (separated apart).

Metaphyseal fracture
The fracture is mainly over the upper or lower part of the shaft of the bone and does not involve the growth plate.

Greenstick fracture
The fracture expands through a segment of the bone, inducing it to bend on the other side.

Galeazzi fracture
There is normally a displaced fracture in the radius and a dislocation of the ulna at the wrist, where the radius and ulna meet together.

Monteggia fracture
There is normally a fracture in the ulna and the head of the radius is often dislocated.
This is a very serious injury and needs urgent treatment.

Growth plate fracture
In most patients, this form of fracture happens in the growth plate of the radius near the wrist.
Since the growth plate helps to decide the future length and shape of the mature bone, this form of fracture needs immediate attention.
Diagnosis
The forearm fracture has led to a bent appearance of the forearm.
X-rays supply very clear images of bone fractures
Treatment
The treatment for forearm fractures is dependent on the type of fracture and the degree of displacement.
The doctor will use one of these treatments, or a combination of both, to treat a forearm fracture:
Non-surgical Treatment
Some stable fractures, such as buckle fractures, may simply require the support of a cast or splint while they cover.
For more serious fractures that have become angled, the doctor may be able to manipulate or gently place the bones into place without surgery.
This method is called a closed reduction.
Later, the arm is immobilized in a cast or splint while it recovers.
Casts help to support and protect broken bones while they recover.
Surgical Treatment
In some cases, the surgery is required to align the pieces of bone and hold them in place.
The doctor may advise surgery if:

The bone has broken through the skin
This type of injury (termed an open fracture) is at risk for infection and needs specific treatment

The fracture is unstable because the ends of the broken bones will not stay aligned.

Bone parts have been displaced.

The bones cannot be aligned appropriately through manipulation alone

The bones have already started to recover at an angle or in an improper position
During surgery, the doctor will incise the skin and reposition the broken bone fragments (a method called an open reduction).
The doctor may use pins, metal implants, or a cast to hold the broken bones in place until they have recovered.
A stable fracture, such as a buckle fracture, may need 3 to 4 weeks to be in a cast.

TABLE OF CONTENT
Introduction
Chapter 1 Forearm Fractures
Chapter 2 Causes
Chapter 3 Symptoms
Chapter 4 Diagnosis
Chapter 5 Treatment
Chapter 6 Prognosis
Chapter 7 Colles Fracture
Chapter 8 Scaphoid Fracture
Epilogue
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。 ※ご購入は、楽天kobo商品ページからお願いします。※切り替わらない場合は、こちら をクリックして下さい。 ※このページからは注文できません。

Rethinking Trauma Treatment Attachment, Memory Reconsolidation, and Resilience【電子書籍】[ Courtney Armstrong ]

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Rethinking Trauma Treatment Attachment, Memory Reconsolidation, and Resilience【電子書籍】[ Courtney Armstrong ]

Creating safety, hope, and secure attachment to transform traumatic memories.

What makes trauma therapy effective? The answers might surprise you. While therapists have been bombarded with brain science, hundreds of new models, and pressure to use evidence-based techniques, research has demonstrated that the therapeutic relationship ultimately predicts therapy outcomes. This is especially true for traumatized clients. But, what kind of therapeutic relationship? Forming a secure therapeutic alliance with traumatized clients is tricky. How do you help clients trust you after they’ve been abused, betrayed, or exploited? How do you instill hope and convince clients who’ve been devastated by loss to believe that a better life is possible?

In this accessible guide, Courtney Armstrong distills discoveries from attachment theory, brain science, and post-traumatic growth into practical strategies you can use to: 1) build trust and a secure therapeutic relationship; 2) transform traumatic memories into stories of triumph and courage; and 3) help clients cultivate resilience and a positive post-trauma identity.

Packed with dozens of scripts, step-by-step worksheets, and inspiring client stories, this book gives you tools for each phase of the trauma therapy process and shows you how to:

Engage and motivate clients based on their attachment style

Manage trauma-related dissociation, anxiety, and anger

Transform traumatic memories so they no longer haunt your client

Work with different types of trauma, from sexual abuse to traumatic grief

Evoke inner resources for healing and positive emotional states

Counter compassion fatigue and burnout so youcan thrive as a therapist

Merely talking about a traumatic event is not enough because the parts of the brain where traumatic, implicit memories are stored don’t understand words. Heartfelt, relational experiences catalyze brain change and buffer the impact of trauma. In this book, Armstrong demonstrates that neuroscience is validating what therapists have suspected all along: the brain changes through the heart.
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。 ※ご購入は、楽天kobo商品ページからお願いします。※切り替わらない場合は、こちら をクリックして下さい。 ※このページからは注文できません。

A Simple Guide To Hydrotherapy, Purposes, Types, Disease Treatment And Related Conditions【電子書籍】[ Kenneth Kee ]

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】A Simple Guide To Hydrotherapy, Purposes, Types, Disease Treatment And Related Conditions【電子書籍】[ Kenneth Kee ]

This book describes Hydrotherapy, Types and disease Treatment and Related Treatments
Hydrotherapy

Every time you bathe with warm water or cold water you are using hydrotherapy!
All my patients who have pain due to rheumatism should soak their feet in warm water while those with varicose veins and swelling should soak their feet in cold water at home.

Hydrotherapy is simply the use of water for medical treatment, healing, pain and discomfort relief, and the promotion of physical well-being.
Dating back to ancient Greek and Rome, the usage of water for therapy has a long tradition, drawing upon the healing properties of water and the body’s reaction to heat and cold.
Hydrotherapy is the use of water in the treatment of different disorders, such as arthritis and related rheumatic complaints.
Hydrotherapy is different from swimming because it requires special exercises that the patient does in a warm-water pool.
The water temperature is normally 33?36?C, which is warmer than a normal swimming pool.
The patient will normally have hydrotherapy treatment in a hospital’s physiotherapy department.
Normally a physiotherapist or a physiotherapist’s assistant with specialist training will show the patient how to do the exercises in warm water.

Principles of Hydrotherapy
According to proponents of hydrotherapy, cold water causes superficial blood vessels to constrict, moving blood flow away from the surface of the body to organs.
Hot water stimulates superficial blood vessels to dilate, activating sweat glands, and removing waste from body tissues.
Alternating hot and cold water is believed to reduce inflammation and encourage blood circulation and lymphatic drainage.

In hydrotherapy, water can take the form of steam, liquid, or ice which is used internally or externally.
Cold water, which naturally stimulates and energizes, is used to improve the body’s internal activity, while warm water, with its calming and soothing effect, reduces these processes down.
Alternating between cold and hot water treatments, also called hydrothermal therapy, is effective to reduce inflammation, improve certain body functions, and heal injury.
Therapeutic Effects of Water
Water is an adaptable medium to work with in therapy.
Being water, it possesses buoyancy and is a capable of a range of movements and pressures.
Water can be used as a jet or a range of sprays allowing the control of pressures.
Since water has thermal properties it can be applied over a wide range of temperatures.
One of the basic laws of Hydrotherapy is that of action and reaction.
The application of any form of heat to the skin draws the blood to the surface.
While this is not a lasting effect, the blood ultimately returns to the deeper blood vessels.
The application of cold water has the initial effect of driving blood away from the surface.
The secondary and lasting effect is that of warmth since by the law of action and reaction the blood must circulate back to the vessels and tissues from which it was driven.

Types of warm water hydrotherapy are:
1.Hot Shower or Bath
2.Epsom Salt Bath
3.Hot Tub
4.Sauna
5.Steam Inhalation
6.Water Jet Massage
7.Warm Compress/Heat Pack
8.Humidifier
9.Aromatherapy
Cold Water Therapy
Cold water hydrotherapy may be:
1.Ice Packs
2.Cold Plunge Pools
3.Snow Rooms
4.Artificial Ice
5.Sitz Baths
6.Cold Mitten Friction Rub
Disorders treated by hydrotherapy are:
1.Pain relief
2.Back pain
3.Sore muscles
4.Muscle/joint problems
5.Poor circulation
6.Arthritis
7.Osteoarthritis
8.Common cold
9.Sleep disorders
10.Headaches
11.Rheumatism
Hydrotherapy is used as a contribution to treatment such as in burns and selective mechanical debridement

TABLE OF CONTENT
Introduction
Chapter 1 Hydrotherapy
Chapter 2 Purposes
Chapter 3 Types
Chapter 4 Uses
Chapter 5 Diseases helped by Hydrotherapy
Chapter 6 Benefits
Chapter 7 Spa Therapy
Chapter 8 Aromatherapy
Epilogue
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。 ※ご購入は、楽天kobo商品ページからお願いします。※切り替わらない場合は、こちら をクリックして下さい。 ※このページからは注文できません。

Breast Abscess, A Simple Guide To The Condition, Diagnosis, Treatment And Related Conditions【電子書籍】[ Kenneth Kee ]

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Breast Abscess, A Simple Guide To The Condition, Diagnosis, Treatment And Related Conditions【電子書籍】[ Kenneth Kee ]

This book describes Breast Abscess, Diagnosis and Treatment and Related Diseases
A few years ago I had a menopausal Malay woman who has a breast swelling about the size of a grape on the left breast near the nipple.
Her husband had passed away and she had 3 grown up children.
She had seen the Government Doctor who advised her to have the lump removed and biopsied.
Being a Muslim she is reluctant to have it removed.
She consulted me for the treatment of the breast swelling which has been there for 1 week.
I palpated the breast swelling.
It was hard but has some warmth suggesting a possible infection.
There was mild pain.
I also advised her to have the breast swelling removed for biopsy because it was deep and a bit hard.
She also refused my referral to go for an ultrasound of the breast.
I was worried about a possible cancer.
She refused any operation and asked for treatment medically.
She would rather die than to go for an operation.
I decided to treat it as an infection
I gave her 2 antibiotics (ciprofloracin and metronidazole) and a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) to reduce swelling and inflammation and an antibiotic ointment to apply on the nipple and the lump.
Within 3 days the swelling started to subside and disappeared after 1 week.
It never recurs again.

A breast abscess is a collection of pus due to an infection in the tissue of the breast.
Breast examination reveals unilateral edema, erythema in a wedge-shaped area, and tenderness.
The affected area feels firm and hot
Causes
Breast infections are normally caused by common bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus) found on normal skin.
The bacteria enter through a break or crack in the skin, normally on the nipple.
The infection happens in the breast ducts and fatty tissue of the breast and causes swelling.
This swelling presses on the milk ducts.
The result is some pain and a lump in the infected breast.
Breast infections normally occur in women who are breastfeeding.
The normal infecting organism is Staphylococcus aureus while it may also be Staphylococcus albus and streptococci
Symptoms
Breast Abscess normally presents as a swelling ?1 week after infection normally in only one breast.
Symptoms of a breast abscess may be:
1.Breast enlargement on one side only
2.Breast lump
3.Breast pain
4.Fever and flu-like symptoms, such as nausea and vomiting
5.Itching
6.Nipple discharge (may contain pus)
7.Swelling, tenderness, redness, and warmth in breast tissue
8.Tender or enlarged lymph nodes in armpit on the same side
9.Skin infection
Diagnosis:
For infections that continue to recur, milk from the nipple may be cultured.
In women who are not breastfeeding, tests done may be done to exclude cancer:
1.Breast biopsy
2.Breast MRI
3.Breast ultrasound
Treatment
Self-treatment may be applying moist heat to the infected breast tissue for 15 to 20 minutes four times a day.
The patient may also need to take pain relievers.
Antibiotics are very efficient in treating a breast abscess or infection.
If the patient takes antibiotics, the patient must continue to breastfeed or pump to alleviate breast swelling from milk production.
Also if the abscess does not go away, needle aspiration under ultrasound guidance is done, along with antibiotics.
If this method does not respond, then incision and drainage is the treatment of choice.
Antibiotics, normally flucloxacillin or erythromycin, should be given.
Treatment should be based on bacterial cultures and antibiotic resistance.
Parenteral antibiotics should be given at the same time, with added coverage for anaerobic bacteria.
Painkiller or NSAID is given for pain and inflammation.

TABLE OF CONTENT
Introduction
Chapter 1 Breast Abscess
Chapter 2 Causes
Chapter 3 Symptoms
Chapter 4 Diagnosis
Chapter 5 Treatment
Chapter 6 Prognosis
Chapter 7 Fibrocystic Breast Disease
Chapter 8 Breast Cancer
Epilogue
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。 ※ご購入は、楽天kobo商品ページからお願いします。※切り替わらない場合は、こちら をクリックして下さい。 ※このページからは注文できません。

With joy and pride parents observe the coming of age of their children, confer. , ence conveners the acceptance of their programmes, and editors the demand for their volumes. The scientific advisory board of the Gothenburg . . Symposia, the Springer publishing house of the proceedings and the editors are more than pleased with the fact that the demand for these books far exceeds the supply. The themes vocalized by the Gothenburg Symposia reHect research and development needs for the environment more than envisioned at the concep tion of the conferences. An environment-oriented analysis of the situation, not confined to the European community, furnishes the following results: (1) Due to the very high population density in many areas environmental quality is endangered; this has become apparent at the very moment in particular in the aqueous habitat and is corroborated by corresponding regulation proposals from the European Council. (2) Pollution control concepts and measures are developed to a varying degree in many countries of the world, reHecting in most instances the need for environmental protection and the closely related devel opment of (judicial and technical) measures. In most instances these controlling and protective measures need to be intensified. (3) Thus, nearly all countries face the problem of developing and/or improving pollution control strategies, i. e. building new treatment plants, upgrading overloaded or outdated instal lations and designing new operating and controlling strategies for improved plant performance.
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。 ※ご購入は、楽天kobo商品ページからお願いします。※切り替わらない場合は、こちら をクリックして下さい。 ※このページからは注文できません。

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Herpes Zoster, (Shingles) A Simple Guide To The Condition, Diagnosis, Treatment And Related Conditions【電子書籍】[ Kenneth Kee ]

Herpes zoster or Shingles is a disorder where a crop of blisters produced by the varicella zoster virus form a band across one side of the chest, abdomen or face.
The same virus that causes chicken pox causes shingles.
Basically it is an extreme form of chickenpox disease.
The name of virus that causes Shingles is Herpes Zoster Virus.
The chickenpox virus stays in a dormant state in certain nerve cells of the body from months to many years, and then reactivates producing herpes zoster.
This infection is because of a temporary reduction in the body's resistance permitting the virus to start multiplying and to travel along nerve fibers towards the skin.
Herpes zoster can occur to anyone who has had chickenpox.
If a person has had chickenpox, he or she could get Herpes zoster at any time.
There is no way to find out if or when the person will get it or how severe the case could be.
Herpes zoster is very dangerous for the health of newborn in case of pregnancy.
The rash is not the first definite sign of Herpes zoster.
The person may sense an itching, tingling, burning, or pain in a specific area on one side of the body or face.
The first symptom is a burning pain or tingling and excess sensitivity in one area of the skin.
This may exist for one to three days before a red rash occurs.
Herpes zoster may or may not have blisters formation.
The blisters in case of Herpes zoster increase in a regular pattern.
The group of blisters then forms on a red base which looks like chicken pox lesions.
The blisters normally last for two to three weeks, during which time they collect pus and then crust over and begin to go away.
Herpes zoster can be a painful, blister forming rash.
The Herpes zoster rash normally affects only one of the nerves of the body.
The painful rash most often extends along one side of the body in a band.
This band is called a dermatome which is the area supplied by one of the nerves from the spinal cord connects with the skin.
The rash can last up to 30 days.
For those people who feel the initial tingle, burning, itch or pain, the rash normally occurs on the skin in the same area.
Some people may have complications that persist after the rash has healed, like permanent scarring or changes to the color of the skin, or nerve pain that may last for months or even years.
In very rare cases, loss of hearing or vision impairment can happen when Herpes zoster affects the ear or eye respectively.
The Herpes zoster rash can cause severe, stabbing pain.
Some people may form long-term nerve pain, meaning that pain can last for months or even years after the rashes have recovered.
This is called post-herpetic neuralgia, or PHN.
The diagnostic findings are particularly, the typical site and appearance of the skin eruption in link with localized pain.
Laboratory Studies
Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing of vesicular fluid, a corneal lesion, or blood
Tzanck smear of vesicular fluid (lower sensitivity and specificity than PCR)
Detection of VZV DNA in plasma can confirm the early recognition of VZV infection in immunocompromised hosts.
Treatment:
The most frequent treatments for herpes zoster are:

Antiviral medicines, such as acyclovir, famciclovir, or valacyclovir, to reduce the pain and the duration of herpes zoster.

Over-the-counter pain medicines, such as acetaminophen, aspirin, or ibuprofen, to help reduce pain during an attack of herpes zoster.

Topical antibiotics applied directly to the skin to stop infection of the blisters.

For severe cases of herpes zoster, some doctors may have their patients use oral corticosteroids.

Antidepressant in case of depression and pain
The pain can be also relieved with cold and rest

TABLE OF CONTENT
Introduction
Chapter 1 Herpes Zoster
Chapter 2 Causes
Chapter 3 Symptoms
Chapter 4 Diagnosis
Chapter 5 Treatment
Chapter 6 Prognosis
Chapter 7 Neuropathic Pain
Chapter 8 Trigeminal neuralgia
Epilogue
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。 ※ご購入は、楽天kobo商品ページからお願いします。※切り替わらない場合は、こちら をクリックして下さい。 ※このページからは注文できません。

Hepatitis C Virus Treatment Highly Effective Therapy with Direct Acting Antivirals and Associated Viral Resistance【電子書籍】

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Hepatitis C Virus Treatment Highly Effective Therapy with Direct Acting Antivirals and Associated Viral Resistance【電子書籍】

This book introduces readers to Direct Acting Antiviral (DAAs) agents, newly developed drugs to treat chronic hepatitis C virus infection, which have an excellent anti-viral effect on virus replication. These drugs have been developed to enhance the effect of interferon and ribavirin, as the resistant strains against each drug have been described both in vitro and in vivo and the existences of naturally occurring variants have been reported. However, since the combination of different classes of DAAs is sufficient to completely eradicate the virus without the need for interferon or ribavirin, the current treatment regimen does not include interferon. Ribavirin is used in combination with sofosbuvir, a potent polymerase inhibitor, to enhance its antiviral effects.

Hepatitis C Virus Treatment offers readers a comprehensive guide to hepatitis C; describing the resistance profiles against these drugs and shedding light on the difficulties involved in DAA therapy and the direction of future treatments, it will equip doctors to understand the essentials of treating the disease. It also describes in detail new and innovative DAA treatments, the effects of the agents, and the characteristics of resistance, providing cutting-edge information not only for hepatologists, but also for researchers, clinical residents, and medical students.
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。 ※ご購入は、楽天kobo商品ページからお願いします。※切り替わらない場合は、こちら をクリックして下さい。 ※このページからは注文できません。

Cystic Tumors of the Pancreas Diagnosis and Treatment【電子書籍】

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Cystic Tumors of the Pancreas Diagnosis and Treatment【電子書籍】

This book provides a detailed, up-to-date overview of cystic tumors of the pancreas, with coverage of all aspects of diagnosis and treatment (medical, endoscopic, and surgical). After opening chapters on pathology and classification, cytology, molecular biology, and epidemiology, the role of each of the relevant diagnostic methods is carefully examined. The treatment-related chapters describe surgical approaches, including minimally invasive surgery, as well as ablation modalities and chemo-radiotherapy. Thorough guidance is also provided specifically on the management of cystic tumors in high-risk cases and on follow-up. The authors are global opinion leaders in their field who have contributed cutting-edge chapters, with emphasis on clear diagnostic and therapeutic algorithms and with numerous supporting tables and illustrations.

Owing to the widespread use of imaging modalities, clinicians are being confronted by an increasing number of patients with cystic tumors of the pancreas, ranging from benign cysts to metastasized malignancies. The widening spectrum of available diagnostic measures has resulted in controversy over the choice of further means of investigation when cystic changes are encountered, and the growth in therapeutic options has similarly been accompanied by considerable debate over their use. Against this background, Cystic Tumors of the Pancreas will be a valuable source of relevant information for both clinicians and surgeons and will also be of interest to radiologists, pathologists, and basic scientists.
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。 ※ご購入は、楽天kobo商品ページからお願いします。※切り替わらない場合は、こちら をクリックして下さい。 ※このページからは注文できません。
