Born into the royal Wittelsbach family of Bavaria, with its legacy of madness, depression and eccentricity, Ludwig II's extravagant and ruinously expensive building projects, coupled with increasingly aberrant behaviour caused the people of his day to wonder. Was Ludwig mad? Was he a genius? Was he just a lonely man, having looked for and given up on love, seeking for some kind of spiritual fulfilment? Even today, we wonder. What was the impetus behind his compulsion to build? And was he really insane or a victim of his own government's scheming?

God cares that we know who he is, and he longs for us to understand him better. Through his Word he revealed his triune nature, though many avoid in-depth study of this doctrine because it is so deep and mysterious.

But God's revelation of himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit affects how he relates to us, how he made us, and who he is eternally. The doctrine of the Trinity is essential to our understanding of him and of our faith. The focus of this study is to examine the ways in which the three Persons of the Trinity relate to one another, how they relate to us, and what difference this makes to our lives.

To understand just how God is both One and Three is to delve into some of Scripture's most glorious truths and to experience the joy of beholding the wonder of our triune God. 【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Into the Paradox Conservative Spirit, Feminist Politics【電子書籍】[ Toni A.H. McNaron ]

"Contradictions can be "decided," one way or the otherーit either is raining or it is not raining, it cannot be both raining and not raining. Paradoxes, on the other hand, cannot be resolved one way or the other. We must simply try to accept them and live within the uncomfortable mystery they create." ーToni McNaron As a practicing Catholic and feminist scholar, Toni McNaron embraces the seemingly unresolvable and accepts the inherent paradox arising from her preference for conservative spiritual practices while remaining committed to radical politics. Residing patiently in this “uncomfortable mystery” has allowed her to explore the deeper spaces of her spiritーnot insisting on consistency or certainty or even agreement as she strives to expand her connection with the God of her understanding in today's post-modern world where paradox is often valued. McNaron’s compelling and inspirational faith journey reveals that we need not harden into inflexible creeds or harsh judgments of other people’s way of finding meaning. Rather, living in paradox can enliven our lives and ultimately open us to the wonder and joy of God’s amazing creation in all its diversity.

[ The Wonder Garden] is reminiscent of John Cheever in its anatomizing of suburban ennui and of Ann Beattie in its bemused dissection of a colorful cast of eccentrics."ー Boston Globe

"Intelligent, unnerving, and very often strange . . . as irresistible as it is disturbing."ー Publishers Weekly (starred review)

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Wonder and Cruelty Ontological War in It’s a Wonderful Life【電子書籍】[ Steven Johnston ]

It’s a Wonderful Life is an American film classic celebrated for its inspirational character. Famously shown during the holiday season, it brings families together in the spirit of mutual love and support. It tells the story of George Bailey, who turns suicidal one Christmas Eve after decades of frustration and sacrifice in which his dreams are repeatedly shattered for the good of others. George is convinced that his life is anything but wonderful. Enter Clarence, his guardian angel, who must find a way to get George to appreciate his family, friends, and all the good he does in life. Clarence does find a way and George returns to his family at film’s close. This might seem like a fairy-tale ending, but it is anything but convincing, which should come as no surprise since the film rehearses an ontological war between contending parties with rival conceptions of what it means to lead a meaningful life. It is a rather one-sided conflict as George finds himself more or less alone in the world. He has been trying to escape his hometown his entire life in order to pursue his Promethean vision in the wider world. To prevent this, God dispatches Clarence to get George to heel. He resorts to a kind of transcendental terrorism to force George to return home and believe it was his own idea. Yet what does it say about a form of life when it resorts to such means to prevail in an existential contest? From a Nietzschean perspective, it is possible to illuminate the film’s extraordinary cruelty. Despite appearances, George’s restoration is temporary at best and there is every reason to believe that eventually he will try to take his life again. Tragically, George must leave Bedford Falls and those who love him must insist that he go.

STREGA - Magic: The Spirit Never Dies

"I was born on the white November day the Baptismal font cracked. Big, and right down the middle. Not a good sign in the Italian immigrant stronghold of Ocean County, New Jersey. Six weeks later, the second they wrapped up the christening my Godfather - running late for a meeting at an unspecified location - gently kissed my forehead and signaled to the bouncer waiting at the door to 'Git the friggin cah stahted.' And that's the good part." - Annie

This is a rich novel from acclaimed storyteller Lynne Russell, set along the shores of modern day Massachusetts and in the Old Country of southern Italy, where hereditary witchcraft is legendary. Strega means witch in Italian. Steeped in history but with a sense of humor, a tale of Reincarnation. Of the Joy we can pull out of suffering. Of Feminine Sovereignty and Gifts passed down through the ages. Angela Scotti (Annie) is a third-year medical student nearly achieving her dream of becoming a healer. But destiny, Destino, has other plans. Tragedies in her short life refuse to give her peace. And her fianc?, a successful NY lawyer, gives no credence to urgent whispers she hears in the night. They swirl around her warning that the clock is ticking, the time is near, but they never say what she should do. Even worse, at the hospital her mentor has become her enemy. She faces the fight alone. This beautifully written, cinematic account of the women who preceded Annie moves smoothly through old Italy. Today, a prisoner of an unsettled present, Annie flees to calming waves and fresh salt air. Without warning she runs headlong into a frightening Past that threatens to destroy her. Yet she finds Hope, Love, and herself in the most unlikely places. Will she recognize it in time?

About the Author: Lynne Russell was the first woman to anchor a regular network nightly newscast (33,000) at CNN. The New York Times called her a "just-the-facts stalwart of CNN Headline News"..also an anchor with the personality of a professional wrestler!. Washington Journalism Review: Best in the Business. Private eye, double black belt, former Deputy Sheriff, Lynne also writes the PJ Santini romantic crime series.

Excerpt. ? Reprinted by permission. All rights reserved.

"The first witch was as beautiful as you. Men loved her and women hated her. She was all women." At some point in her earliest years, every little girl in my family turns a bewildered cheek into the softness of her pillow as she's tucked in at night. She closes her wonder-filled eyes to unpuzzle this riddle, reassured by the gentle feminine voice beside her bed that it is the truth and that in time she will understand. Then this tender sleeping beauty is whispered to, as she sinks into slumber.

"Remember this: the power and the knowledge that rest in your breast have been handed down from the ancient goddesses, the Lifegivers. They rule over Harmony, Fertility, Balance. But men have sought to erase their influence from the world. They have been violent [but] no match for our passion and the way Nature favors us. You can do a lot more with a broom than sweep, you know." Reprinted from STREGA - Magic:The Spirit Never Dies by Lynne Russell. Copyright ?2021 Lynne Russell. All rights reserved. 【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Slow Wonder Letters on Imagination and Education【電子書籍】[ Peter O'Connor ]

Slow wonder bears witness to the possibilities of the imagination. In a series of letters the authors playfully imagine alternatives to current orthodoxies that privilege technocratic approaches to education that have strangled discussion about what it might mean to make education good and right, or even beautiful. The authors position the imagination as a powerful site of resistance within education and academic life. They unpack their philosophical positionings through vignettes of their teaching practice, poetry written as reflective musings and discursive theoretical pieces, including letters they have written to others. They attempt to marry the poetic and the academic, the rational and the affective, to model a slow approach to wondering about the joy, beauty and possibilities of life. In this spirit, they contemplate new ways to think and live in education.

A tall grey-haired soldier, with a professionally straight back, stood looking out of an upper window in the “Rag” one wet October afternoon. His hands were buried in his pockets, and his face was clothed with an expression of almost medi?val gloom. The worldly wise mask their emotions so that those who run may not read, but Colonel Doran had lived so many years among a primitive race that he made no effort to conceal his feelings, and all the world was welcome to see that he was bored to death. To tell the truth, he had been too long in the East to appreciate club life. Other men were undoubtedly contented, interested, occupied; it was different in his case. The palatial dignity, solemnity, luxury of the place failed to stir his pride; even its traditions left him as cold as the marble statue on the great staircase. He would have felt ten times more at home in a Bombay chair, on a brick verandah, with the old Pioneer in his hands and a “Trichy” in his mouth. The big smoking-room below had presented a most animated scene; groups of old brother officers were discussing various burning questions, and topics ranged, from the new Hussar boot, to the North-west Frontier. Colonel Doran knew a good deal about the frontier, but made no effort to enter the lists. What were possible campaigns to him now? He wandered aimlessly up to the library, and turned over some books; he tried to readーit was no use. Ashamed to appear a sort of no man’s friend, and stray, he made his way to the upper smoking-room, which he was tolerably certain to find empty at that hour. He sauntered round it, gazing indifferently at the pictures and mementoes. A sketch of two elephants in a dust-storm arrested his attention. How he wished himself on the back of one of the old beggarsーdust-storm and all! At last he strolled over to the window, and as he stood looking out on a dismal vista of wet slates and an iron-grey sky he heaved an involuntary sigh. So this was the end of his careerーidleness, boredom, solitude! The career of Ulick Doran had commenced at eighteen, when as a cadet he had landed in Indiaーthat hospitable godmother of younger sonsーand the kindly East had adopted and made him her own for the better part of thirty-four years. He had been gazetted as a mere boy to a crack regiment of Bengal cavalry known as “Holland’s Horse,” and in this corps, his home, he had lived and fought and nearly died: had seen his comrades come and go, marry, and retire. Now it was his own turn. At fifty-two his career was ended, and the curtain rung down. Good-bye to everything he cared forーto the sowars, his children, to the mess, to the horse lines, aye, to the very horses, half of which he had selectedーgood-bye to all that had made life worth living. Naturally he could not remain in India, that unseemly spectacle, a mere camp follower of the regiment he had so ably commanded, hovering around it like a departed spirit. He must return to England, and range himself decently on the shelf along with most of his contemporaries. Unfortunately Colonel Doran had but few resources apart from his profession; he was a fine horseman, a noted swordsman, a keen and capable officer, and here he stood, a stranded and unhappy pensioner, the very typical dragoon without his horse! What made his position still worse, he was alone in the world. His mother had died when he was a small boyーhe scarcely remembered her; his father, on the other hand, had lived to a great age, a red-faced, irascible old gentleman, whose eldest son predeceased him by many years; and thus the family place had come to the Indian officer, after all.

Essays on Nature's Beauty and Wonder in Poetic Prose【電子書籍】[ John Burroughs ]

In "Under the Maples," John Burroughs masterfully intertwines nature observation with personal reflection, a hallmark of his literary style that transcends mere pastoral writing. Set against the backdrop of rural America, this collection of essays captures the nuanced beauty of the seasons, particularly the profound influence of maple trees on the landscape and the human spirit. Burroughs employs a deeply descriptive and contemplative prose that invites readers into his serene world, making them acutely aware of the interconnectedness of nature and daily life, all while echoing the transcendental themes prevalent during the late 19th century. John Burroughs, a prolific naturalist and essayist, drew inspiration from his experiences growing up in the Catskill Mountains and his lifelong passion for the natural world. His writings reflect his role as a pivotal figure in the conservation movement and serve as a bridge between your forays into nature and the philosophical musings of contemporaries such as Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau. Burroughs' deep appreciation for simplicity and authenticity resonates through his explorations of the environment. "Under the Maples" is highly recommended for readers seeking a profound connection to nature, as well as those interested in the evolution of American nature writing. Burroughs's reflections are not just observations of the natural world but meditations that inspire reverence and mindfulness, making this book a timeless addition to the literary canon. 【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Satan, Spirit Being With Many Names Bible Studies, #22【電子書籍】[ Leslie Rendell ]

There are many fictional characters in the world, some presumably that do good deeds, like Superman and Wonder Woman. Then there are the villains of the peace, such as The Penguin, The Joker and Lex Luthor. Some people around the world base their lives around these make believe characters from comic books. And even though they know they are not genuine characters, their heroes still influence them.

The sad thing is that we have Satan. The father of all lies. Who most people in the world (adults included and maybe even especially) do not believe he exists. Or if they believe he exists, that he has no influence over their lives. They do not see him as a threat, and he rarely enters their thoughts. If they believe in him, he is just a figure that dwells in a place called hell and is the main furnace stoker. He is just waiting for God to send down anyone who dares to sin against Him. Unfortunately, that would be all of us!!

Satan has been around for a very long time and his powers are great. The only problem for him is that God has total power over him, and he can only do what God allows. We cannot see Satan or really be aware of his presence in the world. But he is not only real, he is a major threat to your future in the Kingdom of God.

The book listed below will give you an outline of what Satan has tried to accomplish so far. Starting from the Garden of Eden and right up to the present day. He and his band of fallen angels, or demons, are still working their evil in today's world. An evil that we cannot see but is nonetheless affecting all of our lives.

I hope you will come to see that Satan is a real problem for all of humanity. But also that you see, God is still in total control of the world.
