【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】Beyond Me Poems about Spirit in Scripture, Psychotherapy, and Life【電子書籍】[ Carroll E. Arkema ]

Beyond Me seeks to capture and convey the wonder, mystery, and healing power of the Divine Spirit and its activity in human beings, life, and relationships. This Divine Presence is often felt or glimpsed as Mystery--beyond us, yet within us--which grabs our attention and pulls us into a deeper and fuller exploration of what life and human existence is all about. As an ordained Presbyterian minister serving as a Pastoral Psychotherapist, Carroll E. Arkema is especially thrilled and fascinated to notice and then capture in his poems the congruency between psychodynamics, spiritual growth, and scriptural stories. His interdisciplinary perspective illuminates the complexity of the divine/human relationship, tracing how people change, heal, and are sanctified, while also resisting such change and growth. Personal experiences and scriptural accounts throw light on each other, and Arkema shows poetry to be a format capable of holding and integrating both.

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】RELUCTANT MEDIUM PEARL CURRAN and PATIENCE WORTH Past Life or Spirit Communication?【電子書籍】[ Amos Oliver Doyle ]

Have you ever wondered what happens to your consciousness after your body dies? Probably most people wonder about that at some time. Most religions try to answer that question with various heavenly scenarios or hellish punishments and wars have been fought and people painfully put to death because of disagreements about religious beliefs and dogmas. Pearl Curran believed that she had made contact with the consciousness of a young woman, “Patience Worth” who had lived and died in the 17th century. Together, Pearl Curran and Patience Worth produced hundreds of poems and several novels and plays that were regarded to be high-quality writing, acknowledged by Stanley Braithwaite in his Anthology of Magazine Poetry as some of the best poetry of 1917-1918. While this book may seem to be about communication with spirits, which it is in the overview, it really is about exceptional literature produced by a young woman with barely a grade school education, no interest in writing and whose formative years were spent in Missouri, Texas and Illinois. But she wrote about Medieval England, Victorian England and the time of Jesus Christ, topics she knew little or nothing about and sprinkled some of the writing with archaic words from rural England of more than 300 years ago. As a young girl, Pearl Curran trained to be a singer and pianist and as a grown woman she enjoyed singing, playing piano , seeing silent movies, reading magazines and cooking for her family. She had no interest in language, history, or religion yet the writings of Pearl Curran and Patience Worth are a language and history cornucopia of information about times fast fading from memory. This book is an effort to bring the writing of Pearl Curran and Patience Worth before the public once again so that it will not be forgotten.

A collection of essays that evoke an adventurous spirit and the craving for myth, Spirit Things examines the hidden meanings of objects found on a fishing boat, as seen through the eyes of a child. Author Lara Messersmith-Glavin blends memoir, mythology, and science as she relates the uniqueness and flavor of the Alaskan experience through her memories of growing up fishing in the commercial salmon industry off Kodiak Island.

“Spirit things” are those mundane objects that offer new insights into the world on closer considerationーfishing nets, a favorite knife, and the bioluminescent gleam of seawater in a twilight that never truly grows dark. Spirit Things recounts stories of fishing, family, synesthesia, storytelling, gender, violence, and meaning. Each essay takes an object and follows it through histories: personal, material, and scientific, drawing together the delicate lines that link things through their making and use, their genesis and evolution, and the ways they gain significance in an individual’s life.

A contemplative take on everything from childcare to neurodivergence, comfort foods to outlaws, Spirit Things uses experiences from the human world and locates them on the edges of nature. Contact with wilderness, with wildness, be it twenty-foot seas in the ocean off Alaska’s coast or chairs flying through windows of a Kodiak bar, provides an entry point for meditations on the ways in which patterns, magic, and wonder overlap.

Of being a nerd … or a geek … or just, somehow, different.

It's knowing you are vulnerable-and someone is ready and willing to take full advantage of your weakness by making your life miserable.

It's the fraternity you never wanted to join-the fellowship of the wounded spirit.

And bestselling novelist Frank Peretti is a member, too.

This book is the haunting true story of pain Frank Peretti never forgot but never, until recently, shared with the world. It's the story of growing up with a medical condition that left him disfigured. A series of surgeries and the slow miracle of answered prayer took care of the deformity, but not the underdeveloped frame or the excruciating reality of being different. And it was for these petty "crimes" that Peretti was prosecuted every day at school-especially in gym class, but also in the halls, on the school grounds, even in his own neighborhood. No wonder he found himself relating to movie monsters who were hated but also feared-and who eventually exacted a bloody revenge on their tormentors!

In Peretti's case, deliverance eventually came-through time, through prayer, through a teacher's caring intervention, and his own willingness to seek help. But he has never forgotten what life was like at the bottom of the junior high foodchain. And from the reservoir of those agonizing memories he sends a compelling message to victims, to bullies, and to authorities who have the power to intervene-that it's never OK for the strong to abuse the weak. And that we allow such abuse at the expense of our souls … and our very civilization.

Especially in the wake of the massacre at Columbine High School-perpetuated by two troubled but also tormented outsiders--this message takes on haunting resonance. Frank Peretti believes we cannot afford to overlook the continuing reality of wounded spirits, not only in our schools, but in our homes, churches, and workplaces. His approach is both tender and tough as he issues a ringing call for a change in attitude.

It's a call for all of us to stop thinking of abuse as "normal," even among kids.

It's a call for the strong to stand up and protect the weak, not prey upon them.

It's a call for those in authority to pay attention to the violence being done to the vulnerable in the midst of our everyday lives and to take action to help.

Most of all, it's a call for bullies and victims alike (many of us are both) to seek the healing and forgiveness offered in Jesus Christ. For that healing is really the heart of this book-the only reality that can break the natural cycle of victimization and abuse.

Only in Christ, Peretti reminds, is there hope for the wounded spirits-but that hope ispowerful enough to change everything.

【電子書籍なら、スマホ・パソコンの無料アプリで今すぐ読める!】The Holy Spirit Who He Is and Why We Can't Live Without Him【電子書籍】[ Bill Johnson ]

Best-selling author Bill Johnson describes His decades-long intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit as “the adventure of a lifetime.” You have the same opportunity for a life-defining “adventure” into God’s presence, love, and power by coming to know His Spirit.

Many people are unfamiliar with who the Holy Spirit is and what role He has in their lives. They may be confused about or even intimated by Him. Even many seasoned Christians have an easier time relating to God or Jesus, while the Spirit and His ways are often a mystery. Like Jesus’s disciples, we wonder why Jesus had to leave earth so that the Spirit could come.

In one sense, the Holy Spirit is surrounded by mystery because He is Spirit. But He is also personal and knowable. In fact, spiritually, we literally can’t live without Him and the life He brings us.

The Holy Spirit is Bill Johnson’s foundational book on the Spirit, including both introductory and deep truths about the third person of the Trinity. He describes what he has learned about seeking God, hosting His presence, and seeing His Spirit change the atmosphere of families and communitiesーbringing peace where there was anxiety and discord, salvation where hope was gone, and restoration where purpose was lost.

Johnson guides you into a close relationship with the Spiritーan eternal wellspring available for everyone, every day, everywhere, for every need and calling. Let the Spirit fill and overflow your life as He moves, shapes, cleanses, and carries you along in the adventure of God’s purposes for the world.

What do the words "Holy Spirit" conjure up for you? Is it excitement at the experience you claim God has given you, or are you mystified by such claims? Is the Holy Spirit a positive presence in your life or simply a background force that energizes God's actions in the world? The title of this book, Gone with the Spirit, reflects usage in the Old and New Testament languages of the same word for wind and spirit. But what does the title suggest to you? Does it imply those lost in wonder at the Spirit's friendly foray into their lives, or some who have apparently taken leave of their spiritual senses? Gone with the Spirit attempts to provide an overview of the contentious and poorly understood person and work of the Holy Spirit for those who have some desire and aptitude for study.

I stand in the midst of creation's wheel

And watch in wonder the quiet majesty of its turning.

We are in the care of a love without limit or definition

Under the protection of a love that never looks away.

When the Spirit speaks to him in his daily prayers, Choctaw elder and spiritual explorer Steven Charleston takes a pen and writes down the messages. He then shares these thoughts with thousands on social media. In these musings, Charleston taps into the universal questions that draw us to prayer, no matter our spiritual background: Why am I here? Where do I belong? Where am I going?

This stunning collection of more than two hundred meditations introduces us to the Spirit Wheel and the four directions that ground Native spirituality: tradition, kinship, vision, and balance. The life we inhabit together has been called many things by Indigenous people: the Spirit Wheel, the hoop of the nations, the great circle of existence, the medicine wheel. We are all on that ever-turning wheel, Charleston says--all of creation, people and animals, rocks and trees, the whole universe. Together we can turn toward the wisdom of our ancestors, kinship with all of Mother Earth's creatures, the vision of the Spirit, and mindful balance of life. We are all searching for belonging and a vision of the world that makes sense. We can meet those longings as we ponder the blessings of Spirit Wheel, in the breathtaking moments when insight becomes an invitation to wonder.
