＜p＞Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2001 im Fachbereich Ethnologie / Volkskunde, Note: 2,1, Ruprecht-Karls-Universit?t Heidelberg (Institut f?r Ethnologie), Veranstaltung: Opfer in Indien und Nepal, 5 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Einleitung In meiner Arbeit soll es um die Frage gehen, welche Rolle der Wettbewerb im vedischen Ritualsystem einnimmt. Der Wettbewerb ist eng verkn?pft mit der T?tigkeit des Opferns. Opfer hat im Deutschen sowohl die Bedeutung 'Geopfertes', also victim, als auch 'Opfert?tigkeit', sacrifice. Im Allgemeinen verwende ich den Ausdruck im Sinne von Opfert?tigkeit, an Stellen, wo die Bedeutung unklar werden kann, werde ich es genauer einschr?nken. Es soll also darum gehen, was das Opfer im indischen vedischen Ritualsystem ist und welche Funktionen es in diesem Zusammenhang hat. Ich versuche, den groben Begriff 'Opfer' damit genauer einzugrenzen und den Bezug herzustellen. Hier m?ssen dann auch einige L?cken meinerseits aufgewiesen werden, die religionswissenschaftliche und indologische Bereiche betreffen. Die Thematik ber?hrt die Religionswissenschaft und die Indologie, ich habe dennoch versucht, die ethnologische Sichtweise im Vordergrund zu halten. Der ?bergang vom vorklassischen zum klassischen vedischen Ritualsystem zeigt dann die Rolle des Wettbewerbes auf und die mit dem ?bergang verbundenen Ver?nderungen und Auswirkungen. Haupts?chlich verwende ich Material von J. Heesterman, weil er in seinen Texten alle auch von mir untersuchten Punkte anspricht und sich somit ein ganzheitliches Bild zusammenf?gt. Er verfolgt immer dieselbe Grundeinstellung, somit sind kontroverse Aussagen ausgeschlossen. Heestermans Darstellung ist nat?rlich keine allgemein-g?ltige, und deshalb f?hre ich eine Kritik von R. Inden an, der mit Heesterman ganz und gar nicht einer Meinung ist. Abschlie?end nehme ich dann Stellung zu Indens Kritik und zu Heestermans Darstellungsweise. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, Heestermans Ideen zum Wettbewerb im Opfer darzulegen und seine Darstellungsweise dabei n?her zu betrachten.
