＜p＞When I first became acquainted with the thought of the American philoso pher Josiah Royce, two factors particularly intrigued me. The first was Royce's claim that the notion of community was his main metaphysical tenet; the second was his close association with the two American pragmatists, Charles Sanders Peirce and William James. Regarding the first factor, I was struck by the fact that a philosopher who died in 1916 should emphasize a topic of such contemporary significance not only in philosophy but in so many other vital fields as well (sociology, psychology, politics, theology - to name only a few). Regarding the second, I was curious as to whether the pragmatism of Peirce and James might have influenced Royce during the course of their professional and personal contacts. Similarly, I wondered whether the idealism of Royce might have affected the thought of Peirce and James. To have appeased my curiosity in regard to all three thinkers, however, would have required (at least) three books. As a start I have now appeased it in regard to one. In researching the writings of Royce I found my way to the Houghton Library and to the Archives of Harvard University at Cambridge, Massa chusetts, where the unpublished manuscripts of Royce are preserved. Ein bereits bestehender, aber ungel?ster Konflikt wurde durch gezielte Provokation erneut zum Aufflammen gebracht und f?hrte in einen verlustreichen Krieg. Israel f?hrte Krieg gegen die islamistische Hizbollah - einer schwer bewaffneten Miliz innerhalb des Libanons, die erbitterten Widerstand leistete und durch andauernden Raketenbeschuss Israel politisch unter Druck setzte. Diese Arbeit soll die unterschiedlichen Akteure, die Kriegsf?hrung und die Konsequenzen des Libanonkrieges untersuchen, wobei der Schwerpunkt auf der Hizbollah ruht, die als nicht-staatlicher Akteur, einen internationalen Konflikt ausgel?st hat. Dabei soll untersucht werden, wie die Organisation entstanden ist, welche Ideologie sie verfolgt und wie sie im libanesischen Staat verwurzelt ist. Es wird sich zeigen, dass die Hizbollah weit mehr als eine 'Terrororganisation' ist, wie sie von Israel und den USA eingestuft wird. Diese Arbeit zielt darauf ab, an Hand der Akteure, sowie der Kriegsf?hrung die Asymmetrie des Libanonkrieges zu beschreiben. Dabei soll der Kampfeinsatz der Hizbollah analysiert werden, um herauszufinden, wie die Organisation der ?bermacht der israelischen Streitkr?fte 33 Tage hartn?ckigen Widerstand leisten konnte. Angelehnt an diese Frage soll auch die israelische Kriegsleistung untersucht werden, die sich nach dem Konflikt einer breiten Kritik unterziehen musste. Im Anschluss daran soll der Krieg aus der Perspektive des V?lkerrechts betrachtet werden. Dabei wird zum Einen die Problematik des asymmetrischen Krieges herausgestellt, bei dem das V?lkerrecht an seine Grenzen st??t. Zum Anderen sollen die v?lkerrechtlichen Konsequenzen, vor allem die Resolution 1701 der Vereinten Nationen dargestellt werden.
