Die meisten Arbeiten besch?ftigen sich mit der Frage wer dieser Mensch war, der f?nf Frauen auf so grausame Weise umbrachte. In dieser Arbeit soll es jedoch nicht darum gehen, sich an etwaigen T?terdiskussionen zu beteiligen. Vielmehr soll die Einordnung Jack the Rippers in die viktorianische Sichtweise gegen?ber der Kriminalit?t im Fokus stehen. Die Frage wird sein, inwieweit Jack the Ripper dem Bild der Londoner criminal class entspricht. Die Arbeit ist zu diesem Zweck in zwei Teile aufgeteilt. Im ersten Teil werden sowohl die Londoner Unterschicht als auch die gesellschaftliche Sicht auf Kriminalit?t thematisiert, um eine Grundlage zu schaffen. Dabei wird dar?ber hinaus das Konzept der criminal class angesprochen. Im zweiten Teil der Arbeit werden zun?chst die Whitechapel Morde behandelt, um anschlie?end verschiedene Theorien n?her zu betrachten. Mit letzteren wurde der Versuch unternommen, Jack the Ripper gesellschaftlich n?her zu bestimmen. Ausgehend davon wird in einem Fazit versucht, eine Einsch?tzung zu seiner Zugeh?rigkeit zur criminal class vorzunehmen.
