In den Darstellungen zur Industrialisierung in Deutschland wird der Eisenbahnbau mit diesem Leitsektor identifiziert. Das Generieren von Kapital, die Gewinnung von Rohstoffen und die Weiterentwicklungen in den Sektoren Eisen, Berg- und Maschinenbau wurden vom Eisenbahnbau vorangetrieben. Gesamtdeutsch mag diese Beobachtung zutreffen doch die 'Industrielle(n) Revolutionen in deutschen Regionen haben zu unterschiedlichen Zeitpunkten eingesetzt und zeigen verschiedene Verl?ufe.' Die Arbeit widmet sich deshalb Rostows These des Leitsektors und betrachtet die Entwicklungen der Wirtschaft in Sachsen f?r den Zeitraum zwischen 1835 und 1848 im Hinblick auf seine Theorie. Als Marie Jahoda, Paul Lazarsfeld und Hans Zeisel den Ort 1933 zum Anlass einer soziographischen Studie nehmen, treffen sie auf eine weitgehend isolierte Gemeinschaft, deren Mitglieder zu ?ber 75% arbeitslos sind.2 'Die Arbeitslosen von Marienthal' beschreibt also die Auswirkungen ausgepr?gter Massenarbeitslosigkeit gepaart mit kaum entwickelten Sozialsystemen und unter nahezu vollst?ndigem Ausschluss ?u?erer Faktoren. In this context, I have not attempted to produce an overall theory of operation of the cerebral cortex, because at this stage of our understanding, such a theory would be incorrect or incomplete. However, many of the principles described will provide the foundations for more complete theories of the operation of the cerebral cortex.
