Stories of the trials I've been through may speak to you.＜/p＞ ＜p＞Maybe you are a skeptic of Jesus. There are so many gods and religions out there that you just haven't been able to trust that Jesus is the one true God. Maybe this sinful world and the actions of some have left you questioning if Jesus Christ is good. My testimonies share a living Jesus who dwells in His people today. He is love and ministers His Spirit with its fruit into His people in their times of need when they submit to Him. I'll point out the abundance of evidence that God is love in the midst of this broken world.＜/p＞ ＜p＞In America today, we have churches teaching all sorts of different things. Practicing of sin runs rampant. Many professing Christians look no different than most people. We have a plague of people merely believing of Jesus. Jesus said himself in Matthew chapter 7 that few find the way of life. He compared them against many who would affectionately call him Lord and be able to point to all sorts of works of service they did for Him, yet Jesus would tell them, "Depart from me. I never knew you." There could be nothing worse than being deceived into falsely presuming yourself to be a Christian!! I'll show you where the Bible defines for us whom these few are. Upon hearing what it is like to come to know Jesus, maybe you will be convicted that you have no such testimonies yourself. You'll be asked to genuinely exam yourself with life's most important questions. My move to Tennessee in 2018 after I retired proved to be a good decision, giving me the opportunity for a new start; not to mention the climate seemed to suit me much better.＜/p＞ ＜p＞Although physically my inner self longed for more; I let my hair and beard grow and I started dressing more comfortable and leisurely.＜/p＞ ＜p＞Eventually I started with the tattoos and piercings, becoming addicted to the pain and desiring more and more. The artist who has done all my tattoo work became a dear friend and beginning with her I learned new spiritual things; not in the way of religion but more in the way of 'personal ＜em＞enlightenment＜/em＞'.＜/p＞ ＜p＞I began a search to find out more about myself; my inner self. I started by joining one of the ancestral websites. I searched relentlessly for two years, devoting many hours to uncovering my past and my ancestors. It was quite interesting and rewarding in most cases as I traced my lineage through the pages of time.＜/p＞ ＜p＞Once I finished my genealogy research I turned my attention to another area of great interest; ＜em＞＜strong＞the truth＜/strong＞＜/em＞. I had too many questions that had never been answered completely. I had taken issue with the Bible and questioned much of its content and interpretation.＜/p＞ ＜p＞So where did we really come from? How many ancient civilizations lived on earth before us? What really awaits us after death? What part do extraterrestrials have to do with earth and mankind?＜/p＞ ＜p＞I completed and published my first book in August 2023 entitled "Awakenings". I began writing it during a time when I met all of the above criteria. Despite having a successful career, I felt burned out, stuck at a dead-end, and had a severe case of compassion fatigue.＜/p＞ ＜p＞Being on call 24/7 for ten years had caught up with me. I was exhausted physically, mentally, and emotionally from the disruptions of my circadian rhythm. Then a surgery triggered the re-experience of a repressed traumatic childhood＜br /＞ event. I decided to go on a sabbatical and resigned from my position as clinical program director. In my thirties, I had ditched earlier attempts of writing professionally in order to become an expert in another field. During my time off, I realized that I had become just that: a seasoned clinical social worker with a postgraduate degree and a professional license to practice therapy and provide clinical supervision to postgraduates.＜/p＞ ＜p＞Through a series of synchronistic events during my sabbatical, I discovered that the desire to be a therapist and writer had been inside me since I was seven. I had imagined myself in those roles while sitting at an old, black typewriter without paper and missing the A-key. In retrospect I understood that I had been trying to heal from my traumatic experiences as a Verschickungskind (sent-away child) at the age of six while placed in a large group home in Sankt Peter Ording. That place had been marketed as a recovery retreat on the shore of the North Sea in Germany.＜/p＞ ＜p＞Instead of recovery at that facility, I experienced terror and a sense of complete severance from my family and community, accompanied by an unbearable emotional pain that manifested as a painful constriction in my throat. As a six-year-old, I did not know what I have come to understand today: I had been subjected to what psychoanalyst Alice Miller described as poisonous pedagogy, a practice that used authoritarian methods designed to break a child’s will.1 For example, I was placed in a double-bind of having to choose between two forbidden actsーgoing to the bathroom and wetting my bed. The only possible outcome was punishment for breaking the rules.＜/p＞ ＜p＞Years later, a major part of my healing was discovering the Verschickungskinder Deutschland (Sent-away children Germany) on social media. When I learned that there had been 8-12 million of us between 1945 and 1990, I began to view my early childhood from a brand-new perspective. I connected to others who had been affected, began to support related research, and got involved in activities to prevent such atrocities from ever happening again. Finally, it included writing this book and starting to work againーthis time as an independent social work contractor. In that role, I was able to create my own schedule and limit my number of referrals.＜/p＞ ＜p＞My writing this book is a direct result of becoming receptive to previously unknown information. Despite well-meaning but ill-suited advice, I neither created a self-help book offering promises of instant results nor wrote from a scientific angle to be passionately challenged and debated. Instead, I did what I encourage anyone in distress to do at the beginning of a major endeavorーget in touch with their inner self in order to effectively improve their life and the lives of those around them.＜/p＞ ＜p＞We must take care of ourselves to avoid burnout. But where are all of the books written in plain English for the non-Harvard types? This book is not written for anyone with an MBA ? it is purposely written for people who may have never been given the opportunity to learn business concepts in school or on the job. I learned none of these concepts in school. Some of them I learned from others during my years of consulting with companies. Others I made up in urgent situations where we needed to “coin a phrase” to explain complicated scenarios to people with very little experience.＜/p＞ ＜p＞**So, why “Flex?”**＜br /＞ Today’s world is more complicated than ever before. The typical American worker must play multiple roles at home and at work. The ability to be flexible is critical, and it creates options. The concept for this book arose out of the urgent need to retrain our employees to “flex” across multiple jobs as we worked to transform our business during the Covid 19 crisis. In addition to developing courses around Excel, PowerPoint, warehouse management and other technical courses, we also needed to provide employees with some basic business, communication and leadership training to enhance their skills and ready them for a new day. Understanding how companies work will help lay the foundation for employees to explore multiple roles and jobs. Learning how to manage multiple roles will make one more flexible in their work and personal lives.＜br /＞ A big part of this retraining is the development of some basic business acumen. Flexible employees will need to understand a company’s purpose, how it is organized and how each role within the company makes the engine run.＜br /＞ Learn what you can from this book, and keep in mind that so much about business is not a science ? it can be more of an art. Just try to learn the basics and consider your own personal “North Star.” We all have our own set of circumstances ? your guiding light might be different from that of everyone else.
